It is better for him to risk a fight with Loma while he is young. If he loses he can recover from this loss and maybe come back as a better fighter. He is the underdog going in, and he is a champion, so he has very little to lose. Imagine if he cherry picks an easier opponent and loses in an upset. There goes the money fight and it would be harder to recover from that. I respect Teo for stepping up to this challenge.

Rigo is 57 years old brother. Teo win or lose isn't even in his prime yet. Completely different situations. I'd argue that Rigo fight WAS a cash out fight & I believe I'm on record here saying as much.

Obviously in boxing L's are seen as a scarlet letter of sorts instead of the learning experience they are, so yea he'll take a hit like everyone does with an L more or less. But win or lose Teo's best days are in front of him past Saturday night.

I'm one of the guys on here who says that losses don't matter, it's how you recover from them that matters, but most people don't share my sentiment. How many people on here don't think Loma should be in the top 5 because of an L?

I wouldn’t call it being cashed out but this is the kind of thing TR does.

Lopez can’t make 135 anymore, Loma is probably not going to 140or 147 unless he can make $20 mil.

This fight is win win for TR. if Loma wins as expected, he gets a big win over a top LW and clears the way for the Haney and Tank fights. Lose and he still had those fights for belts vacated by Lopez when he goes up.

Lopez wins he’s the next star in the sport. He goes to 140 with a huge rep. Lose and he lost to one of the best I in the world and he goes back and builds himself back.


This is smart business by TR. It’s how they’ve stayed at the top of the game for almost 50 years.

That fight will not happen if he loses. Davis will fight Lopez. That's what Lopez meant when he said he'd only want big fights next.Then Lopez can truly cash out, win or lose.

It'll be the end of the road for Loma. That's why it's more of a must win for Loma. Can't see Loma going back to his usual mandatory bumfest. If Lopez loses, I don't see him becoming anything in the future, either. Loser leaves boxing, for a while at least.

If he loses then it’ll be a learning experience. He’ll still be young enough to rebound.

Loma is not Floyd and losing to him or even winning (Salido) hasn't made anyone a star. He himself isn't currently a star. That's the overhyped part of him. It's the end for Mr. Lopez.
