In fairness that's the Bob go to move to hype up one of his fighters is the Ali comparison. So the fact that he made it right before his biggest fight means 2 things. One he's trying to hype the fight obviously. Two that he thinks Teo has a good shot at winning. You don't waste the Ali comparison on the guy you know is getting ktfo.Bob clearly blazed out of his mind
yes, lets make a comparison between the GOAT, who was arguiably the most charismatic boxers and people of the 20th century...to some prospect whos idea of being charasmatic is doing video game dances and crying because he has daddy issues?
Also I'm sure Arum was blazed, but that mofo is probably blazed every day of the week anyway.Comment

Looking back on it now it all seems like fun & games, but in the 60's, an era with all kinds of civil rights sh^t going down, a boasting, c#cky, non-stop talking black man was not a welcome sight to a lot of folks. There are a million differences between Ali and Teofimo. When Ali talked he put on a show full of poetry, zany antics, wit, and charm. It was a performance that even his most ardent haters enjoyed. When Teofimo talks, he gives the impression he is a classless, dim-witted thug. Ali made people laugh with his clowning around and his antics. Teofimo turns people off.
Granted post-Vietnam war stance he got more of the public on his side, but early on Ali was more hated & despised than Teo is, was or ever will be.Comment

There has always been a lot of biotry in this country and the decade of the 60's brought out that hate with a vengence. White folks idea of a good "negro" champion was someone who was quiet and did not express strong opinions about anything, like Floyd Patterson, with apolgies to Patterson for using him as an example, but that is the way it was. Ali was never popular with those folks, but he had legions of fans among the young, ********** and the rebellious. For a time and to their detriment, all too many young fighters tried to emulate Ali's boxing style. Few were able to pull that off with any degree of success. To borrow a phrase from the late Senator Lloyd Bensten: "Mr. Lopez, I knew Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali was a friend of mine, and you sir are no Muhammad Ali."Looking back on it now it all seems like fun & games, but in the 60's, an era with all kinds of civil rights sh^t going down, a boasting, c#cky, non-stop talking black man was not a welcome sight to a lot of folks.

I don’t mind all the pre fight bravado and trash talk to promote a fight but it’s nice to see a bit of mutual respect post fight.
I dislike it when any fighter behaves like that after a bad ko of their opponent before they know they’re ok. Being a Fortnite dance makes it truly de****able though.
I’m 44, my kid watches YouTubers playing video games shouting “come at me bro”. I’m allowed to be confused and grumpy about the younger generation.Comment

This is what you said. There has always been a lot of biotry in this country and the decade of the 60's brought out that hate with a vengence. This isn't correct is what I'm saying.
Ali was seen as a boastful ****head who would run from his opponents early on in his career. Idk that he was much of a hero to anyone til he got more militant with the panthers after he won the world title for black folks & protested the war for white folks later. And obviously the white folks were most of the audience & they came to see him lose. Much like Jack Johnson before him & Floyd Mayweather after him.
Idk why mfers always try to change Ali's story. He wasn't loved for the early part of his career.
And in fact he was seen as less of a challenge to Liston as Teo is this weekend. Early Ali & current Teo got a lot of similarities no matter if you like Teo or not.
Now no one is comparing Ali's & Teo's accomplishments. That would be off base & silly. No one is saying Teo is standing up for bigger causes like Ali. That would be ridiculous.
But Teo having folks hate him over his words & actions is definitely very similar to early Ali just like Arum is saying.
And I mean fook if anyone should know it's Arum. One of his best, cheap & most often used marketing angles with his fighters is to compare them to Ali (or other great fighters) in some way. Arum probably gots notes or can pull it outta his ass on a moment's notice how every fighter on his roster is like Ali. Google that sh^t. He's done this type of comparison of some Ali attrubute a million times to Loma, Bud, Floyd, Manny, Oscar, etc & so on with lesser names than those guys.
In fact a headline a few days ago was Loma is the best technical fighter since Ali.
Basically Arum is the greatest of all time at comparing fighters to Ali which is his own Ali comparison.Comment
