My prediction for Lomechenko vs Lopez

Go watch Roy Jones vs James Toney. There will be similar eliminates but I think if Loma sees it he will end it. Gonna be some slow walking and sad singing this weekend.

It could be similar. Only Lopez isn't nearly as good as Toney nor does he have the experience. I think the kid's gonna fold tbh.

I wouldn't be shocked if that went down. That said I tend to lean towards Teo's size, strength & his own uniqueness giving Loma more problems than Toney gave RJJ doe. Maybe even enough problems to win. I'm hyped either way.

Loma doesn’t have the frame or power of Jones.

          Great post!

Watching videos of Loma and Lopez, it occurred to me that Teo's shoulder roll defence could leave him vulnerable to a fast, smart, athletic opponent like Loma, who throws punches from all kinds of unpredictable angles.

RJJ vs James Toney illustrates that principle perfectly.

I'm picking Loma to win, but I think Lopez will be tough and determined enough to go the distance with him. And he can punch, which will keep things interesting.

I doubt Lopez will do a back flip at the end of this fight. Maybe they will carry Lopez out of the ring on a stretcher. I think it will be a one sided beat down and a KO win for Loma and humiliation for big mouth Lopez and his annoying dad.

              Interesting comparison man.

I’m thinking Loma boxes a little more cautiously than usual and wins a wide UD.

Anything can happen, and Lopez *could* catch Loma with a good punch and end it ...

                BUT

I don't see that happening. After looking at almost all their fights, this is my conclusion

                1. Loma has much better footwork and movement than Lopez. I know from my own years boxing that this is a really big deal. Loma isn't going to sit in front of Lopez all night waiting to get hit: he is going to move laterally, cut off the ring, come at his opponent from odd angles, etc. Lopez's footwork is very weak for a top-level fighter.

                2. Lopez hangs his left hand down and tries to sucker his opponent to come in, and then counters. That works against a lot of club fighters: it isn't going to work against Loma. Because Loma is a southpaw, he is going to jab Teo's face all night, and probably cut him.

                3. Loma is a much more skilled boxer than Lopez. For every big shot or counter that Lopez throws, Loma fires off a 4 punch combo.

                4. Loma's competition up till now has been much better than Lopez's. The Ukranian has great endurance and and endless motor. He isn't going to tire like some of Lopez's inexperienced opponents.

In short, Lopez is going to get schooled, and maybe knocked out late.

                But you never know ...

Lopez has a puncher’s chance. That’s about all I can give him as a chance to victory.

                    that's how I have it

I think Lopez is over-hyped, as people tend to fall in love with flashy punchers. Nakatani scored a lot of points on him, and won rounds.
