I think, to my knowledge; and I could be wrong, professional boxing is the only sport on Earth where the clear best don't have to fight each other for a World Championship title. Lomachenko is the very best LW fighter right now and he earned all of his titles and earned The Ring title. He earned the distinction by beating top 10 contenders like Russell Jr, Linares, Sosa, Pedraza, Rigondeaux (2 weight classes below but still an okay win), etc.
Haney on the other hand, won a fight via email to win the WBC LW title. That is an absolute travesty. Haney is by far the most undeserving champion of the last 10 years. The worst way to win a title, he owns that title, the WBC titleholder: "Worst Boxing Champion". The Email Champion of the world.
Just imagine if the NBA championship was between the Brooklyn Nets and the Utah Jazz, all standings still being the same as you see them now, because that's who the NBA decided to rank as #1 and #2 for the Championship title. This is boxing. This is how boxing operates. Sanctioning bodies like to rank random ass fighters in their top 15, with 3 or 4 name fighters sprinkled around there. So then you get cheap vacant title fights where everyone knows who's going to win because their opponent is some unknown boxer with no experience at the top level.
This is why I only look at The Ring and Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. I don't always agree with all of their rankings, but they get it right on who are among the best 9 times out of 10.Comment

I'm just going by what Sulaiman had said.
If he is now changing the rules on the fly then your guess is as good as mine.
What super, what are you talking about? This is the WBC not the WBA.Comment

false, as of April the wbc named Haney full wbc lightweight champion. He's not an interim. The franchise champion is the one who once had the wbc belt, didn't face the mandatory, so was given this made up belt. Same exact situation at middleweight.Comment

WBC should've kept Lomachenko WBC titleholder and kept Haney WBC interim titleholder, and after THIS fight saturday then give Haney a mandatory titleshot in like 6 months.Comment
-
wrong Loma still has the belt got upgraded to super and Haney got upgraded to regularComment
-
the WBC franchise is the same as the WBA super so I call it the WBC super and no he never changed anything at light it can be lost but if Loma moves up or down franchise cannot be lostComment

would it not make sense to have the undisputed champion be the winner or whoever comes out on top off the three named current champions in the division and try push for that you know winner off lopez/loma vs haney? ah well I guess that's the WBC for you..Last edited by BritishBoxing92; 10-12-2020, 06:53 PM.Comment

Devin Haney beat the WBC #3 and became Lomachenko's mandatory. But Team Lomachenko chose to request Franchise Champion status instead and vacated the belt. That in no way is Haney's fault.Comment
