I didn't make the comparison, I was commenting on the comparison often used by the López fans.
Linares being stopped doesn't have anything to do with his skill set. He got caught cold a few times. It happens. Anybody that thinks Linares isn't a highly skilled boxer, and more so than López, needs to give their head a good ol' shake.
Linares is highly skilled but he has this weird habit of defensive lapses that kills him. Offensively, he's excellent but his lack of attention to detail on defense has been his undoing.
People trying to use Loma vs. Linares as a comparison are a bit daft; Linares is a highly experienced and proven elite level fighter, López isn't, by a long shot. The comparison to Loma vs. Campbell is equally as daft; on top of being a highly skilled boxer with that amateur pedigree, Campbell had a half foot reach advantage.
López is good, don't get me wrong. But he hasn't exactly showed anything special in regards to boxing skill. He's shown good accuracy and power...against people that haven't got anywhere near the skill that Loma has. I see Loma outboxing little Teo for the majority of the fight to take a clear UD.
What makes Linares an elite level fighter? He's been knocked out 5 times in his prime, several of which to frankly not very good fighters, 3 times inside 2 rounds! I don't think elite fighters get KTFO in their prime to your Cano's, DeMarcos, Salgados & Thompsons of the world.
Who is his best win? Luke Campbell who is 1-1 vs Euro level Yvan Mendy?
Not close to being an elite level fighter.
He's fast, he is skilled but he is not an elite level fighter.

Your right, the knockouts losses are the impressions I have of Linares. He’s a smooth boxer but his chin always been his downfall. I just feel like he was never a elite fighter
I think Lopez is a different beast than Linares and that’s what’s make this fight so interesting.
Teo has improved his boxing skills by leaps and bounds, he has fast hands a good variation of punches and great timing, he is better right now than his previous fights because he is rising and as hungry as a starving dog, with only 15 fights Loma may be a bridge to far but I wouldnt write Teo off he has the tools size and power to pull an upset and it can be one shot, I wouldnt be surprised if Loma befuddled him or Teo landed a bomb its that kinda fight.
Teo fights with no jab, goes straight back, and stands in fromt of his opponents just waiting to counter. He's going to have a tough time with Loma, He's levels above Teo. Loma will drain him mentally and won't have a answer to slow down the P4P #1 in Loma.
EZ work for loma. The reason Loma has been getting marked up since turning to 135 is because he's been fighting bigger guys with high volume. Teo is not a high volume boxer. I see a UD with a knockdown by Loma.
Cmon people stop hating on Loma, He's a pleasure to watch. One hour run will go for anybody loma faces. He's a racist still wet behind the ears.
We'll see when my bet comes in. I'd take Lopez to KO or outpoint Linares handily. I'm convinced he wins this. I wouldn't say Linares skill levels are that good. The first fight he had with Crolla was like a 7-5, and Crolla has very limited skill.
This isn't about Linares or Loma, it's about Lopez.
The guy was taken the full distance by a nobody from Japan, then after the fight said he wasn't fighting any more tall fighters.
If you can't stay composed in that ring, you get clipped, wobbled or possibly lose.
If a mental case like Lopez gets dropped and embarrassed by Loma, there's a good chance we see Lopez quit.
Look at this, he said it himself. There's only so much (ass whooping) you can handle.
