In the Post Mayweather Era, 32 is nothing because you're only fighting twice a year! In the Sugar Ray Robinson Era, you're probably lunch drunk by 32!

Manny Pacquiao felt the same way as Vasily Bumochenko, but Vasily dismissed the ATG ; claiming that Manny Pacquiao was past his best. Lomachenko said, '' I think hes too old.'' -- fought Rigo tho.

Manny Pacquiao heard Bumochenko's words and said, ''who made rules about age in boxing?'', and proceeded to take the regular WBA 147 title from Lucas Matthysse and the 'Super-welterweight' title from Keith Thurman, but that was a good excuse not to fight the 'Pacman'.Last edited by 1hourRun; 10-09-2020, 08:30 AM.Comment

Also helped that floyd didn’t go crazy between fights and had the advancements in medicine and training.
Imagine if Duran could fight in this era? Then again, he’d probably bring a beer and a Cuban sandwich into the cryogenics machine with him. Lol.Comment

Well said! I'd even add that boxing moving away from 15 round fights also helped. Remember the thrillers we got to enjoy, not realizing that the guys we admired were leaving big chunks of themselves in the ring.Comment

Yes, this. There is the question mark of wear and tear, but that aside, Loma definitely looks after himself. No question of him being old at 32 -- he isn't -- but with his commitment to fitness, he should be able to keep going at peak levels for a few more years at least. Not really anything to do with being American, just a question of how well the individual looks after themselves in-between fights. eg Mayweather and Hopkins looked after themselves - no large weight fluctuations or other excesses between fights, and they went longer as a result. Same with Loma, he looks after himself, which will add some years to his ability to perform at peak.Comment
