since when do belts matter at all? they were trying to enforce the mandatory which was ****** for many reasons , 1. haney is with dazn and is an unknown fighter, it would take a big fight for the 2 to get together. 2. they didnt want to delay the lopez fight so they said take the belt ill take on the #2 guy in the division while you take on alfredo Santiago and shot gamboa. not sure how fghting the best guy in the division instead of some unproven guy is ducking. taking the franchise belt is actually a smart thing becasue he could have kept the belt and paid haney step aside money but now he doesnt have to pay him any step aside money at all and can challenge for the belt whenever he wants.

It's not his fault that Lomachenko chose to drop the belt instead.
