I remember Barry Hearn giving it the big one back in the 90's to how great Eurbank sr. was (although a very good fighter) when Barry was having him fight part time postmen (true)...Never giving the fans the real fights which were out there...James Toney , Mike Mccallum..Then on the J.Ross show they had a live link to the Wild Card for Nigel Benn and Eurbank in the gym was Micky Rourke (actor) and the threatening , arms folded James 'lights out' Toney .... not even a peep from either of them....back to postmen ...does this sound familiar!

It’s the worst it’s ever been atm and that’s partly down to Hearn. Both Matchroom and Sky have similar morals in regard to boxing.
I have no issue paying for Fury or AJ fights as they are world champions, and world class fighters. But trying to charge people to watch Chisora or Whyte whilst only making fights like Buatsi-Calic available for Sky subscribers is absolutely disgraceful. You are getting no value for your money.
Laughable that Hearn always says he gives the best quality cards from top to bottom etc..
Even if it was true, Any promoter could stack cards if they’re taking PPV money for events that belong nowhere near PPV like Whyte v Rivas.
Top Rank, ESPN, BT and Warren are putting them to shame right now. There’s no way Eddie and Sky would even made Joyce v Dubois without it being PPV, never mind Loma v Lopez.
Hearn and Sky are mugging off boxing fans right now, especially with 3 PPV events in the space of about 6 weeks later this year.Comment

When your last headliner is Buatsi-Calic you shouldn’t be making statements like that.Comment

But putting fights on in Saudi Arabia is great for the fans...
No offence mate but you are not seeing the relation because you are not intelligent enough to understand it. I thought you might be a new’ish fan but if you’ve been following boxing since the 90’s it’s worrying you still have this perspective.
Sky/Matchroom are doing well from a business perspective but they are killing the credibility of boxing in this country. The bias propaganda, substandard PPV’s, consistent mismatches.
British boxing was WAAAAYY more popular in the late 80’s, early 90’s because it was shown on premium terrestrial television. Putting anything half decent behind a paywall does not help grow the sport it stunts the growth of the sport. How can you not see that?
Frank could have EASILY gone PPV for Dubois-Joyce, he CHOSE not to because he actually cares about the sport. He’s a boxing man.
The Hearn’s are not boxing men, they are just venture capitalists. Well Barry is, the kid is just using daddy’s money in reality.
I don’t even know how much it is a month now, but the level of fights you get for free is ridiculous, everything is on ppv and even those cards are usually filled with mismatches.
I’m sure it was Groves v froch that had Andy lee on the undercard in a 6 round fight against some guy who was about 50/1 against him. Reminded me of the weekly wwf shows that had a big name fighter beat up a fat can like iron mike wolf as filler before the main event.
I wouldn’t buy a car off Hearn or Warren, but you are correct to differentiate between them. Warren can be duplicitous toad but I do get the impression he loves the sport. I used to subscribe to boxnation and the main difference was they used to pull out all the stops to get the fights that hardcore boxing fans were salivating over like Marquez v Vasquez or Rios v Alvarado, something that sky didn’t bother with because it wouldn’t attract enough casuals to make financial sense.
The other thing I’ll give frank his due for, was that launching a boxing only channel was massively detrimental to him as a promoter. A lot of his stable left him because they wanted more mainstream exposure and wanted the Ricky Hatton style nationwide following that you could only attain from being on a platform like sky sports rather than a purely boxing subscription channel.Comment

Do I agree with it no not really but this coming from a promoter who is indefinitely putting back the fury vs wilder 3 fight because it has no paying audience and he mentions not being found of rematches hasn’t he been involved with Tyson fury being tied in to a 3rd wilder fightComment
