They have their great fighters just like any other country that produces good athletes. To say they’re tougher, or train better? I don’t think that’s accurate. They don’t dominate boxing, and when matched against the very best from other continents, sometimes win. And sometimes they lose.
Why are Eastern Europeans so good at boxing now a days

I've not done the math, but, I think Western Europe still bodies Eastern Europe. There are just a ton of highly ranked western europeans.

are their training programs better, are they simply touger then western boxers... What is it
They also seem to be conditioned much better as wellComment

If guy’s like this were allowed outside of their country from the beginning, boxing history would look considerably different.

And Papp shows great sportsmanship and respect for his opponent here: (Time stamped)
Realising that the guy is out on his feet and being held upright by the ropes, he holds back a punch he is about to throw and walks away, without being told to by the ref.Last edited by kafkod; 10-05-2020, 05:01 PM.Comment

Teenagers who are athletic now a days plays a school sport. Boxing isn't a school sport. My high school even had Tae Kwon Do as a gym class!
Boxing is very nicheComment

OP must be Pauli Malignaggi. Eastern Euro's are good but far from becoming the top dogs like the OP and Paulie love to imply. Besides Loma and Usyk, name an Eastern Euro right now that far exceeds anything any other people are doing. One could argue that they dont have legends like Americans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, etc is because they were banned from pro boxing.........but lets not forget, ALL of Eastern Europe COMBINED in the olympics (where they were still allowed to compete) still falls behind USA and tiny ass Cuba in boxing gold medals.Comment

They dont really have any real top guys only Loma and ggg is done the rest are very tough but basic guys.Comment

Whether we like it or not, the top 2 P4P fighters are Eastern European (Loma and Usyk), but let's not forget other top P4P fighters in Beterbiev, GGG, Briedis, etc.Comment

A lot of them seem very dedicated and have an old school mentality.
It's quite rare you see an Eastern European goofing off on Instagram or crashing cars or posted up in the club.
Eastern Europe also is just a different place, men are still men there, they don't have woke culture and PC, they still respect masculine qualities, different mentality altogether. I imagine getting into combat sports is quite cool amongst young boys there where in the west young boys now find it cool to go on protest marches waving rainbow flags.Last edited by Earl-Hickey; 10-05-2020, 07:09 PM.Comment
