your comment is completely irrelevant to my point. My point was, previously you needed to have actually accomplished something in your sport to be marketable. These days, you just need to be a social media whore that gets the attention of simple minded "fans". So my critique is more about what it takes to make a star today than what it was in the past. I believe if Lopez beats Lomo in dramatic knock out fashion, he “could” become the most marketable professional boxer in the world. There is a lot to work with there with his personality, ability, and he speaks clear and recognizable English which is important also.

I said “could” because López is with Top Rank. Like Floyd said on a podcast the other day, Crawford should be a highly visible superstar throughout the world and at the top of the P4P list by now but Top Rank is holding him back. Top Rank doesn’t really spend the money to market fighters.

Good for him but he should take boxing seriously. He is the next Oscar de La Hoya but with social media he is more famous now. He has something in his favor, he is Latin and girls like that more than a boring, dull, Eastern or Northern European. In Spanish those types of people are called " gente sin chispa, sin gracia" ...which more or less means " boring ", the types that can´t dance....
