IMO losing to Maskaev proves he really can't hang with Vlad, but maybe the poor ppv will help the HW division to realize that the only way to bring big money & fan interest back is with one word; Unification
Yes, but as soon as Wlad offers a fight to Maskaev, WBC comes in and says that Maskaev must fight the winner of Toney/Peter. I don't think they (read Don King) want unification.
I admire Arum's honesty. I also think that if people knew how good it was going to be (which is impossible, of course) then they wouldn't have minded paying that much... yes/no?
Yeah man, and unlike Golota or most people that have fought Ruiz, Rahman's loss to him was very much legitimate. Now there is something to be embarrassed about.
I didn't have to pay for the fight but I couldn't even bother myself to get up and go to see it, that's how much it ****** in my mind. Still, I ****ing regretted it because of the result as I had just assumed that Rahman would win easily.
The way the other guys on the card created even more drama made it sound like a very attractive night of boxing overall. Nobody is to blame because it could have easily been a stinker but it just goes to show you that you have to have a main event that people believe in or you will bomb.
