It definitely wasn't a 10-2 type of fight and I had it 8-4 for Charlo. I could see 6-6 if you favored Derevyanchenko's heart and relentless aggression but I favored Jermall's clean punching and I feel like he dictated the pace for the most part. You sound drunk
1) the cards showed that Derevy never had a chance, based on what everyone was saying was going on in the fight. People generally, from what I was reading on here and on twitter, seemed to feel anywhere from 6-6, to maybe 8-4 to Charlo was a reasonable score. Everyone agrees the 10-2 card was awful as it was a close competitive fight.
I commented that it is sad that in a lot of fights, the B side has no chance to win on the cards, as was obviously the case here. I didn't need to watch the fight to know that. I just needed to look at what everyone felt about the fight and then look at the cards.
2) I then watched the fight myself to see how impressive Charlo looked, fully expecting him to win in impressive fashion. I didn't see that and I scored the fight according to what I saw.

Well Derevyanchenko is and was seen as a top middleweight and a legit test going into the fight so I don't think anyone was expecting a blowout either way.
It's funny because if Charlo had destroyed him then people would say that Derevyanchenko is damaged goods after the GGG fight.Comment

At least you seem reasonable and dispassionate about the fight, which is good. It was definitely a competitive fight.Comment

No one at 160 would look great against Derevy. I think that has been proven. Maybe now he is starting to become damaged goods, but it would likely be from accumulation of multiple tough fights/losses now and not just 1 fight.Well Derevyanchenko is and was seen as a top middleweight and a legit test going into the fight so I don't think anyone was expecting a blowout either way.

Yeah I do my best to remain objective. I'm looking forward to seeing where both guys go from here. I would like to see Charlo face another elite opponent. I know Canelo is a long shot but I would be fine with a Demetrius Andrade or Chris Eubank Jr. if it's a matter of promotional affiliation.Comment

I like Derevyanchenko and I would like to see him get another meaningful fight or two while he still has something left in the tank.
He will always have trouble with tall, rangy guys but he's a tough out for anyone as long as his face holds up.Comment

Agreed, well said my friend. Derevy is a tough fight for anyone. Just doesn't give up and has a good workrate and toughness.Yeah I do my best to remain objective. I agree. Jermall is the better fighter of the two brothers. He fought the much better opponent on Saturday too.Comment

People may say that, but I wouldn’t have. I couldn’t care less what others say might have said, but thanks for letting me know. Had Charlo destroyed Chenko he’d be propelled to the top of the divisionWell Derevyanchenko is and was seen as a top middleweight and a legit test going into the fight so I don't think anyone was expecting a blowout either way.

He was seen as a legit test because Jermall has been a middleweight for 3 years, and has nothing to show for it. Granted the division isn’t that strong anymore but in 3 years, not a single top 10 guy? His highlight is the struggle against Korobov.
Meanwhile Jermell has been fighting the who’s who of 154 and stands atop of a fairly stacked division. Total night and dayComment
