Herring seems like a good dude but this is easy work for Shakur!

What does Crawford have to do with Porter turning down a mandatory WBO title shot?

Agree Shakur would demolish Herring, in fact he probably make him quit twice in a row. However, Vergil is the best from the young crop followed by Stevenson.

Porter did not turn down a mandatory shot...yet! He and Crawford did not want to fight because a) they're friends, and b) Crawford said the money isn't enough without fans! Meanwhile, Shakur is saying "I want that belt, although we're friends, strictly business!"

Terence Crawford REJECTS Shawn Porter Fight
December 26, 2019 by Andy Brooks

WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford says he doesn’t want the fight with ‘Showtime’ Shawn Porter (30-3-1, 17 KOs) because it doesn’t make sense for him right now. Crawford says he’s “Focused on” other fights. Who knows? This might be the Top Rank promoted Crawford’s last chance to get a fight against one of the elite PBC fighters.

The reaction from fans to Crawford REJECTING the Porter fight has been overwhelmingly been negative to the extreme, as they now view the Omaha native as a ducking cherry-picker, who has built his 11-year professional on the back of lesser opposition.

“That’s not a fight that I’m focused on right now or even worried about,” said Crawford to DAZN about a fight between him and Porter. “I’m focused on other things right now. If we had to fight and if it made sense, then that would be a fight that we would both agree upon. But right now, I feel like that’s not something we should discuss right now, because there’s nothing on the table for me,” said Crawford.

Terence isn’t saying what other fights are, but his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Boxing mentioned recently that he wants to match Crawford against these elite light welterweights in 2020: Jose Ramirez, Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis...

Terence Crawford On Facing Friend Shawn Porter: That's A Good Fight For Me
By Manouk Akopyan Published On Fri Jul 17, 2020, 08:23 AM EST

Terence Crawford and Shawn Porter have been linked to a future fight for years, but with Crawford tied to Top Rank and Porter with PBC, no serious steam has been built for the pair to showdown.

To complicate matters a bit more, Crawford and Porter are close and consider each other friends.

Porter has said in the past that if a clash were to take place, it would be a decision they have to co-sign, not the powers that be.

If you ask the WBO welterweight champion Crawford (36-0, 27 KOs), the Nebraska native appears to be game for a meeting in the middle of the ring.

“That’s a good fight,” Crawford told ESPN. “If that’s a fight that [Porter] wants to pursue, we can talk about it, and so be it. I don’t duck no fighter. I never turned down no fighter, so I won’t stop now. My whole thing was I’m looking for the titles, and I’m trying to become undisputed. Me and Shawn are good friends.”

The 32-year-old Crawford is irked that Porter (30-3-1, 17 KOs) never came calling when the Las Vegas-based, Ohio native was the WBC welterweight champion before dropping a close and competitive split decision to division adversary Errol Spence Jr.

“My whole thing was before he lost to Errol Spence, there was no mention of, ‘Let’s have a unification fight’ or no nothing. So I feel some type of way about that,” said Crawford
. “It don’t matter. We all got to fight each other. I want to fight everybody.”

Top Rank boss Bob Arum has listed Porter among the five opponents of which he’s closely considering for the three-division champion Crawford’s next fight, which is set to take place by November. The others are Manny Pacquiao, Kell Brook, Keith Thurman and Yordenis Ugas.

If Crawford were to fight the pitbull-like Porter, it certainly would be a step-up in competition.

“Our friendship is really tight. I admire him as a fighter, and I’ve gotten that back in return,” Porter previously told BoxingScene.com.

Bronx you do understand it being a mandatory title shot means it doesn't matter what Crawford want's so those articles are meaningless at this point. Porter is in the drivers seat. If you don't hear the WBO announce Porter as the mandatory in the coming months and set a purse bid plus deadline for the fight its because Porter didn't want the fight. There is no other way to spin it.

He's a tough match up at the lower weights, the best guys down there are usually volume punchers and brawlers. Don't see a lot of long, athletic boxers. He's going to be tough to beat until he goes to 135

You can't just ignore all the times Crawford has turned down a Porter fight.

You going to fight Stevenson, Cashtro? Or vacate and fight Frampton?

What difference does that make now? Can Crawford stop Porter from fighting for the WBO belt next IF Porter petitions to become mandatory? Simple yes or no. Too much soap opera on this site.
