    Emile griffith- Miguel cotto

Wow credit to Larry merchant. When Cotto was 24 merchant made the comment that Miguel would move to welterweight. Eventually he compared Emile griffith to Cotto and said angel reminded him of griffith "who also went on to win a title at middleweight."

Who says Larry doesn't know crap about boxing? Practically a decade later I had the treat iof hearing Larry merchant on the telecast with Bob Sheridan the colonel, for cotto- Martinez fight. Remarkable insight. Whoever calls him marry lerchant cause he's sipping on some booze is dead wrong!

In my opinion Griffith wins every round until he stops Cotto. Griffith beat **** Tiger and **** Tiger would flat murder Cotto. Just my honest opinion. They will never fight so it just comes down to opinion because nobody can prove who the winner would be. I don't think Cotto was in Griffith's class but Cotto did accomplish a lot in his career.. Remembering the beating Pac gave Cotto and Cotto running backward the last 6 rounds and I think i know what Griffith would do to him.

I don’t see any real resemblance between their fighting styles to be honest.

Griffith is certainly a lot better.

It’s a solid comparison in hindsight. Griffith had a far better run at 147 though.

Griffith had the greater legacy and was the better P4P fighter. Never ducked an opponent and sought out the best right to the end. Cotto had a lot of heart too, but he loses a couple of points for his refusal to fight GGG at 160.
