You say "wartime propaganda".. There was NO war then, and would not be for America until another 4 years. You have NO IDEA as to what was going on then, how much to the boiling point this coming fight had brought the American Public, as well as the rest of the world. There was a good reason....The Berlin Olympics had recently taken place and gave a taste of what was to come to the world.

For the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the ***s swept away into hidden prisons and camps, and the main streets decorated like a Potemkin's City street (if you know what that it, you likely don't) with the back streets still full of ***-hate and "inferior-race" hate. Deutchland Uber Alles blared incessantly from the loudspeakers, mercifully stopped after a while.

That was when Jesse Owens won 4 Gold Medals and Hitler stayed away from the Stadium that day. and didn't present them to him. Owens said that was O.K. but that FDR didn't even send him a congratulation cable, and he got no offers when he returned. (Very much like Sonny Liston after winning the Heavyweight title, with no one to greet him at th airport..)
