The weight difference seems legitimate, although Rigo himself after the fight said it wasn't an issue.

Regardless, Kovalev was clearly more deteriorated than was Rigo. Kovalev had been TKO'd by Eleider Alvarez about a year prior. Rigo had nothing remotely close to that performance in his history.

So along with that (Kovalev more deteriorated), the reason the Loma fight can be seen as better is Loma won every second of that fight (Rigo didn't land more than 3 punches in any round). Most thought Canelo was losing his fight through 10 rounds, even if the judges had him slightly ahead 96-94, 95-95, 96-94.

not a fan of either wins, Canelo is the biggest diva in boxing right now, Kovalev didn't even believe he could win on such short turn around after his tough fight against Yarde. Loma had no problem fighting tiny Rigo, but too scared to meet Pac at 140.

Rigo is likely better than Kova but Kova is a better win. Rigo, as amazing as he is, was indeed older but most importantly, he looked like a teenager fighting a man.

Someone said Loma didn’t use his size. Excuse me? How does a man who’s a couple inches taller and significantly thicker (lololol) NOT use his size. Loma was legit punching down at Rigo literally would lean away and Loma would just stand there and punch down at him and reach him with ease..and lets not act like being hit by a significantly bigger man doesnt hurt even more.

Loma had nothing to gain and he constantly went on the record before signing the fight that he was just too big for Rigo and that itd be diff if they were the same size but they werent. Afterwards he also has acknowledge it. Rigo was the one who had it all to gain here.

With Canelo, Kovalev, while a drunk ****y dude, was still a top LHW. He is *clearly* past it, but he was a real legitimate champion, he just wasnt the BEST champion. He regained his title and defended it by derailing a hype train. Kova was past it but not done.

ANYONE moving up and beating Kovalev, stopping him, and taking his title would have a really good win under them. Be it Zurdo, BjS, Callum, Benavidez, etc...and for context, it’d be the best win of their career. And Canelo is smaller than all of them. That is a crazy looking size difference. It was a calculated risk but still a risk.

The guy moving up tends to get more credit. It’s not a comparable scenario. Closest thing I can think of fr recent memory to compare loma-rigo is Spence-Mikey, but Mikey at least dabbled a division under and is now doing his thing outside of 135 (lord knows why... 135 with Mikey was the hottest division in boxing)
