Smith has never been seated to my recollection and all of beterbiev’s KDs were flash KDs. Even though beterbiev is on the wrong side of 30 he’d still be favored, but I’d pick the fresher guy. If smith wins, Bivol will be tabbed as the number one at lhw

Joe Smith has really started developing. He looked a little faster and fought great against Alvarez. He is a worker in the ring, but a Beterbiev fight may be too much....Their styles will mesh very well together though.Comment

Don’t make no dàmn sense how Smith isn’t a champion right now!
Those two unknown Russians vying for the title hasn’t beaten anyone on the caliber of opponents Joe Smith had to go through!
Smith could lose again or Beterbiev’s body could fail him in the ring before they fight!
Just give the belt to Smith cuz that performance against Alvarez was totally unexpected an crazy for a guy at his supposed level!
At this point Beterbiev would still be the solid favorite but Smith’s chances are much better cuz he seems to have improved!
He doesn’t just throw haymakers, now he sets up his punches, uses the jab, works the body and uses FEINTS, yes people Joe Smith used a feint against Eleider Alvarez which is what he will need to all use to beat Beterbiev!
Not a fight I would bet on!Comment

I like it. Not many guys running towards a fight with Beterbiev but Smith sounds like he wants it and sounds like he has some confidence
in his chances as well.
I think Beterbiev will win but Smith is probably the most dangerous opponent for him out there ATM. The toughness combined with the dynamite in his fists makes him a live dog.
There are more skilled guys out there at LHW but it's gonna take a different skillset to really give Artur problems (IMO). He showed that in the Gvozdyk fight; If you can't hurt him, he will eventually break you down. I think Smith's toughness can buy him enough time to possibly land some dynamite on Artur and dent that chin.Comment

Idk if he's tougher or not, but he gots heavy hands too so he's a live dog vs Beterbiev or anyone else.
I still like Beterbiev vs anyone at 175 these days, but at 35 his days are numbered & I suspect few will anticipate his first L. It's unfortunate he had so many hold-ups in his career that slowed his way to the top.Comment

People maybe overrate Beterbiev a little based on beating guys like Hot road, which is not really very good win.Comment
