By Cliff Rold - It would be foolish to say it doesn't matter. Tuesday's news that middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is suing his promoter and network matters. It renders, at the least, an overwhelming likelihood Alvarez won't be back in the ring in 2020. Depending on the course of litigation, it could run well into next year. Boxing is an event driven sport. Week to...

There is still an audience waiting to be served!
Canelo and his peeps have to com to terms with this pandemic. Unless you can pack a house you are not gonna get the live gate which contributes to the PPV numbers.

Canelo vs GGG had 17,318 attendance with a gross sales of $27,059,850.00.

Sorry pal you can forget those numbers until there is a vaccine.

I'm no longer interested in Canelo's fights anyway. Scorecards at the time of Kovalev stoppage were a turning point for me, and I was cheering for Canelo. The guy is unbeatable in Vegas. That's a fact. And if he fights outside, he fights total bums like that Rocky whatever. So what's the point.

Honestly I think not having fighters from like four different weight classes all angling for a shot at the cash cow might do wonders for the competitive activity within those divisions. All that time fighters spend in limbo waiting months for Canelo to make up his damn mind can be spent making the next best matchups for those guys. However, I do also worry that the most lucrative deal in boxing falling through in such an ugly manner could have severe repercussions when it comes to investors looking to bankroll projects in the future.

That's pretty much where I'm at, Canelo's a hell of a fighter, but having a dude who is basically never gonna lose a decsion regardless of what happens in the ring takes away 90% of the interest.

This too, I've long been saying that having a 'cash cow' in the sport is harmful overall. Having such disproportionate paydays attached to any one fighter basically disincentivises potential opponents from risking fighting one another. Effing daft situation.

Your second point is also a very genuine concern though, very good point.

Your first point is absolutely correct! Look how many fighters are waiting on Canelo and Pacquiao! Fortunately there are fights being made in their absence! These next 60 days look pretty good! As far as your last point, these new investors (like DAZN) have not made the landscape any better! Why? Because, like DAZN, they thought throwing out big dollars, would make fights happen across platforms, and that's not really happening! Hearn can't offer enough for Charlo to come to DAZN for Andrade, and he also doesn't have enough juice to make Canelo, Jacobs, Smith, nor GGG fight Andrade either, even though they fight on DAZN! He also couldn't get Wilder to come to DAZN for Joshua! He did get Ruiz, but that didn't go as planned! Arum does not have enough to get fighters from PBC come fight Crawford on ESPN, nor is he willing to let Crawford go fight on FOX/SHO! On the contrary he does have enough in the stable for Fury and Lomachenko! Basically, it costs too much to do cross-platform fights, but the sport will continue to hurt without them!

Citizen Hater always with his subtextual hate (chip on his shoulder) for Canelo. No wonder you always try to challenge me with WADA’s revised list for Clen.

Such jinxing only falls on your beloved GGG as I told everyone that he should’ve gone to PBC and not sign with DAZN. You do realize if GGG really wanted Canelo a third time with this “mystic” promise truly looks bad for the Kazakh since he continues to chase Canelo around. Without Canelo, how does DAZN ever talk about their rivalry here forward?

Yep and you have all these fans place one entitled boxer above the sport as a whole. Whats worse isntead if holding the guy accountable they're celebrating it.

Look at the damage Floyd did to the sport.

Look at what Canelo is doing.

Boxing all about drama everywhere else but inside of the ring.

I don't hate the kid, man, I think he's a fine boxer, I just ain't that interested is all. Not really very interested in GGG either, anymore, haven't been for a long time. Only reason I talk about him at all is that folk like your good self keep bringing him up.

The Clen tests is just me countering your spin... gotta tell people the facts man. Once again you don't keep bringing it up I won't have to waste my time setting the record straight. Deal?
