“The sport is down a star but one can only hope that leaves it wide open for new or enhanced stars in the meantime.“ -Cliff

    Hope?

Industry writers shouldn’t stop instigating as they normally do for other fighters if by theory writers help a percentage for matchmaking. #Headlines #Expectations #

Good write up, little bit of reality and simpleness to the whole situation. I never liked too much flash on anything in sport. That may have been why I was drawn to boxing it had its dirt but it was not on the playing field. In the ring is where it all matters. I do not like Kings of except maybe of course the blues.... B.B. King or Albert King. But B.B. performed about an average of 250 shows a year up to the day he died and he gave the people what they came for. Courtrooms and lawyers forget about it. It is a world that nobody really wants to get dragged into. More lives have gotten ruined in courtrooms then in the ring. But that is just how I see it.

Its the Mayweather syndrome. Dont care, dont need him.Boxing is better off without the twice a year fighters clogging the gears making the promotors lazy and greedy at lesser fighters expense.

However, I do also worry that the most lucrative deal in boxing falling through in such an ugly manner could have severe repercussions when it comes to investors looking to bankroll projects in the future.
This is one of the smartest posts I've ever read on NSB.

This saga is grotesque and everything wrong. Instead of sport and competition boxing has gone full tilt greed and trashy reality TV.

The problem with boxing as a sport is that no one represents or cares about the integrity of the sport.

Canelo is way too caught up in his own hype and thinks that he's way more important than he actually is.

If he wants to waste years of his career screwing around with this drama bs trying to be a little diva then so be it. There are plenty of other great fighters to watch.

Sorry pal you can forget those numbers until there is a vaccine.

Personally I am fine with Canelo ending his career now. He has made enough money he no longer needs to fight. Let the other divisions shine. Having 1 person be the top of multiple divisions is not healthy for boxing. There are maybe 2-3 fights I would like to see happen with Canelo and those fights have the smallest % of coming to fruition. By the time he fights next, he will have lost over 2 years of his prime fighting years mostly on things he can control. He is not Floyd nor will he ever be. Floyd's normal weight was close to his fighting weight. He never had to cut drastically and Canelo is known for having weight issues and having a hard time cutting down.

Maybe we can find a way to start making all those belts obsolete too. Unless you are making good money on each fight, it is not a smart business move to be a champ, all the fee's imposed on you simply for having the belt.
