Comments Thread For: Luke Campbell: I See Myself Breaking Down, Stopping Ryan Garcia!

I could not believe that the 'Ice-Man' Chuck Liddell showed up for a Ryan Garcia fight. Oscar Del La Hoya looks like he is trying to avoid eye contact with Chuck ; I dont blame him. Chuck was like, WTF? Is this teen amateur boxing?! Is this Oscar's son? Dont tell me that this kid making more money than me and Tito Ortiz, when we were fighting for the UFC?!
What I learned from Ryan's performance against Oscar Valdez, is that his defense is awful against short compact skilled boxers, that know how to measure range and change levels on him. Too bad for Luke Campbell, he does not fit that profile. Jason, would come in low and surprised Ryan coming up-stairs and at the very least would confuse Ryan and force the bum to make mistakes -- that Jason would regularly punish.
Come to think of it, that's how Midgetchenko beat Luke Campbell. So these two have that in common.
Now, by assessing Campbell's and Ryan's arsenal, which will be brought into this contest, I have come to the conclusion that Luke is a more versatile puncher : hes got a good jab, cross, and left-right hook. What separates Campbell from Ryan's punching is fluidity, in how Campbell smoothly transitions his attacks up-down and vice-versa. Ryan, is a bit stiffer and wider, some of that can be attributed to his habit of preferring to fighting-tall and long-range.
I then compared Campbell's and Ryan's chin and heart. Campbell has past those test -- a few times actually. Ryan is suspect and falls apart under pressure, I'm not sure if its the nerves due to inexperience, or if he genuinely is hurt -- could be both.
Lastly, the art of being able to survive is something that really does not get written about much, fans will attribute survival to having a good 'chin' but really, there is a art to tying up your opponent or using different methods to buy more time to recover, thats a skill, and Luke has that. I seen Ryan holding on for dear life against Carlos Morales, very crude and exhausting wasting energy grappling.
Anyways, I'm not going to finish my break down, I lost my mojo, but I'm sure you learned something if you read this far. Hey, do you think Oscar and Chuck did cokes after the show?Comment

All that break down and for what? Ryan is going to put lights out on Campbell before round 4.

If Ryan KO's Luke in 4, I would be as high as Chuck Liddell during UFC 51.
I left-out Punching-Power in my incomplete analysis of Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell. Power, is arguably Ryan's advantage against Luke.
However, what type of puncher is Ryan Garcia? He has never gone 12 rounds or legitimately KO someone past five rounds. I know that on paper Ryan KO Noe Martinez Raygoza in 8, but that was a early stoppage and Ryan looked gassed against the bum.
Is the source of Ryan's power : timing ( countering ), torque ( speed ), punching accuracy ( Punch selection )? or is he naturally heavy-handed? If its any of the former, conditioning factors a great deal in that skill as the rounds extend. Ryan will find himself at disadvantage in terms of punching-power and experience approaching the championship rounds. Campbell is familiar with how championship rounds have limited his abilities, Ryan has yet to know.
Anyways, I lost my mojo again.Comment

Ryan’s power is a combination of all those things speed, accuracy, timing and heavy handed.
Also if you’re gonna criticize a 21 yr old on how he looked when he was 19 and 20 then we can all do that with every fighter Shakur, Ward, Oscar, Floyd, Haney etc have all looked basic at times against average compe but that’s part for the course they are or were all still learning but all of them including Ryan were only getting better.
Also Foncesa went 8 hard rds with Tank but couldn’t last 1 rd with Ryan no matter how you slice that it was pretty damn impressive.Comment

I've always liked Luke. I think he has some pretty good boxing skills. He's not the most powerful puncher and he doesn't always seem to have an aggressive mindset.
I think his best chance of winning is to use his boxing IQ and jab to frustrate KingRy and avoid getting hit with powerful counters. If he can take the fight into mid late rounds and begin to exert pressure, he can get the win.Comment

Oscar is waiting for Canelo to agree a fight before he reloads his coke supply. It got so bad over lockdown that he toyed with the idea of coming out of retirement
