It just happens. Could happen to anyone. Getting smashed over and over again in the head , eventually something bad will happen. All boxers know this. Just happened to be the G-Man who had to suffer.
Could happen to anyone.
Sad story for sure.Comment

yo juice...
I've been reading up on a lot of what transpired that fateful evening, more than usual these days as I've seen some vids on YOUTUBE that I've never seen before.
You seem to know a ton of what happened that night. Is there any other footage that I can read or view after the fight and the collapse in the corner. Like what excatly happened during Benn's interview while G-Man was slowly deteriorating in the corner.
And do you know if Benn visits him at all these days with his condition or has helped him out at all ?Comment

I still have the newspapers from the morning after. And I still have the fight on VHS, and it's aftermath.Originally posted by Bonafideyo juice...

Benn was exhausted, concussed and on a major high, so he didn't know what was going on.. you can't blame him for his actions after the fight, really.
McClellan's sisters haven't allowed Benn to visit.Comment

I dont blame Benn for his actions after the fight. He didnt know what the **** was going on apparently. How could he anyways with all the people that stormed the ring after.
thats ****ed up that G-Mans sisters havent allowed him to visit. I'm sure Benn would want to visit after all these years.Comment

I remember the headline of a newspaper a few days after, it said something like: 'We Wanted Benn Dead, Now We Want His Money' - from McClellan's sisters.Comment

i think a lot of those hooks landed a little far back on mclellans head, which is prolly what caused the damage.Comment

I just saw this fight for the first time a few months ago, and I was in awe. What a great battle.
It was amazing, how, in the first round, McClellan comes out and nearly KOs Benn. He knocks him through the ropes, beats him from pillar to post, but Benn got through it. I did think the referee was questionable with his continued efforts to seemingly give Benn a few extra seconds on every break and McClellan was clearly getting frustrated, that can't help your focus and fight plan.
There were other moments in the fight where it looked like McClellan had Benn ready to go, but the guy was Balboa-esque, he just would not go down and fought back and landed some huge shots. Just a classic that will be remembered for sad reasons instead of great ones, and rightfully so. It is a tragedy that this happened...Comment
