Comments Thread For: Hunter: Whyte Should Take Time Off, Too Soon To Have Rematch

Heavyweight contender Michael Hunter had openly backed Alexander Povetkin to defeat Dillian Whyte in their high stakes clash, which took place month at Matchroom's Fight Camp in Brentwood. Hunter, who fought to a draw with Povetkin in December 2019, felt the Russian boxer's style was all wrong for Whyte.

Had Whyte been thoroughly outboxed and taken too many shots, i might agree with Hunter. But it was one shot and up until that happened, EVERYONE, hater and fan alike, saw Pov gettin beatown and expecting Whyte to eventually stop the communist.

Realistically what else can Whyte do if he wants to stay relevant in the immediate future?

I understand where Hunters coming from but Whyte is not a fan favourite, although people were starting to agree he was being hard done by.This defeat has sent his stock tumbling and even should he KO Povetkin there will still not be much clammier for a fight with the big boys (one of whom has already destroyed him).In an ideal world Whyte should come back slowly from this brutal KO but he doesn't have that luxury, it's a do or die!

That’s what they said about AJ and his fight was a beatdown whereas Whyte’s was a single punch.

I was also more surprised at the first 4 rounds than the fact Dillian lost but I think not taking the rematch would be just as bad as losing it for Whyte’s career

He could fight some of the fighters he's blatantly ducked in the past... pulev, ortiz, Parker rematch, AJ.

He loses to all of these guys... so he'll be probably keep fighting d graders like wach, and Lucas browne

Pov would have beaten him up much worse , if whyte hadn't almost fallen out of the ring and assumed his normal position of being out cold cradled in referees arms like a baby

I don't agree. He was fighting well, dropped him twice and it looked like just a matter of time. It was a brilliant shot by Povetkin and I expect Whyte to win the rematch.

Youre missing the fact that up until that punch, Pov had done absolutely nothing except get thoroughly outclassed and kd twice. But again, haters gon hate.....and Im no fan of whyte, just calling it as everyone saw it.

Where else can he go? He was in Eddys garden. No telling what else was going on. Just the same, at least he got in the ring. That was a very entertaining fight. In terms of making people happy, it was historic. I don't mind him getting paid again. I just hope he doesn't make people too happy.
