  • Comments Thread For: Povetkin-Whyte Rematch Eyed For November 14 or 21, Says Hearn

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Dillian Whyte, says a rematch with Alexander Povetkin is being targeted for two dates in November. Last month at Matchroom's Fight Camp, Povetkin was down twice and behind on points when he brutally knocked out Whyte with a single uppercut in the fifth round.

That would not help his stock. He needs to finish Povetkin early and make a statement. If he wins by UD then nobody will consider him a legit contender for the title. He needs to get the job done in decisive fashion.

No word on the length of bbbc suspension following a very heavy ko, yet already talking rematch dates?

It seems to be the prevailing opinion that Whyte will win an easy decision in the rematch, but I don't really get why. Whyte had a strong 4th round, but he wasn't dominating outside of that round as certain articles have suggested. Whyte, and a lot of fans, may well underestimate Povetkin again.

Same results. Whyte is just to sloppy and Povetkin now know he can sleep him at any given time. I expect a aggressive Povetkin which will make Whyte have to open up more. I see a stoppage maybe even sooner.

The game plan seemed on point, was bagging the rounds and clearly breaking povetkin down... Think its going to be similar fight. Whyte gets the second half of fight stoppage. Povetkin looked shot to shi* from round one. That aint going to change in the rematch. Povetkin hope will be to get into position to land that shot again.

This was always a dangerous 50 50 fight for Whyte. A risk he did not need to take.

Respect to both me for being willing to do it again.
The audience will be larger. I suspect the $$$ will be larger also.
Wish more HW's had the ba11s to challenge themselves the way these two are.
Once again respect to both men.

Oh and does anyone know when Usyk is going to test himself against a HW with a pulse or is Chazz Witherspoon going to be the only HW on his resume before he gets a title shot?!?!

Once again respect to both Povetkin and Whyte.
                  May the best man win.

The longer the fight goes? The more it plays into Povetkin's hands.

Whyte's endurance has gone backwards since Chisora I 'Whyte fights at a measured pace, because I don't think he cane maintain a high intensity' Most of is muscle mass seems non-functional, he seems to be big just for the sake of it.

I actually think Povetkin even at this stage of his career, has better endurance.

It is still a 50/50 fight.
