He could hang in there with the likes of Hagler, Monzon, B-Hop... name anyone and GGG could fight them.
he made his first real defence a year before canelo and then prompty lost the only title he won.

ggg was really excellent, if he was really really top tier he should have beaten jacobs cleaner, that was so close it could have been a draw if I remember, he then beat a lot of people's top top fighter in canelo (imo) and did it clean but got robbed with a draw and then another really close great fight with him and all well into his 30's and still going, damn that's not too bad at all, a warrior no doubt

I'm going to say it...he should just retire. I see things getting worse before getting better with his age and inactivity.

            froch!!

I'd say froch would have loved a ggg fight, bigger guy and could take a punch and lots of money in it, don't see any reason why he wouldn't want it bad, imo

cotto, maravilla, yes they were not interested and canelo bided his time

Froch didn't want it, but he sure changed his tune once GGG started looking vulnerable. Still not sure if he was serious or not to be honest, I think he wanted GGG to go all the way up to 175ish.

froch once said shaking ggg's hand was like shaking the hand of a wet lettuce

lol, probably a bit of trash talk but he did say he thought ggg was small guy

frochs last fight was over a year before GGG finally won a title and proved himself relevant.
its the exact opposite of your train of thought.

GGG should retire, if he continues his pre-lemieux run it adds nothing, and if he continues to fight at world level he will continue to get beat regularly as he would all his career.

When Canelo finally fought top fighters, he struggled.

He got wiped out by Floyd Mayweather.

He barely beat Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara and Danny Jacobs.

He got a gift draw and a gift decision against GGG.

He was losing the Kovalev fight when he caught him late and won.

If you had him winning any of those fights, it was barely.

He didn’t dominate one top fighter in his championship reign.

                      Canelo ain’t all time.

                      ... whoops.
