What are you talking about. Really??
He moved up one division too many.
He's a great fighter and his power was a big part of that. He can't hurt the naturally bigger men like he could in the lighter weight classes. I don't see how that doesn't add anything to the discussion.Comment

really what, as I said a while ago now, his scalps at MW are better than GGG's so if you are arguing he couldnt cut it as a MW then you are arguing GGG was worse. What are you talking about. Really??

No blind eye. You can look up his record after he abandoned his natural weight class and see for yourself. He had losses against Winky Wright, Hopkins and Jones. All very good fighters. None of those fights were competitive. You would think that someone as gifted as Trinidad would be in those fights but he was dominated. There is no doubt in my mind that Golovkin would beat the hell out of Joppy. Trinidad was too prone to getting knocked down to beat all the guys Golovkin fought.Last edited by TonyGe; 09-08-2020, 05:19 AM.Comment

...based on what? His resume is full of Vanes, Rolls, and Szermeta level fighters. The handful of fights he DID step up and fight elite competition he was very ordinary. What kind of bull**** is that? GGG is one of the most dominant middleweights in recent memory. He was a P4P great for quite a few years and really tore up the division until his fights with Canelo put a dent in that domination. But it's absurd to claim GGG is not an ATG middleweight. He could hang in there with the likes of Hagler, Monzon, B-Hop... name anyone and GGG could fight them.
The Jacobs fight was razor close and the HBO broadcast team - the guys bigging GGG up - had it for Jacobs.
Canelo 1 shouldve been a 7-5 win for GGG but the draw wasnt outrageous. Canelo 2 probably shouldve been a draw but 7-5 either way was acceptable. Nonetheless Canelo is NOT an ATG MW and GGG couldn't separate himself from Canelo...
Dervenchenko beat GGG. There's no other way around it.
So GGG is officially 2-1-1 in his biggest career fights but should be 1-2-1.
Ya..."ATG material". All smoke and mirrors...Comment
