my chest and shoulders are big (genetics), and i have a corresponding relatively large waist (with no fat on it); if anything, given my height 5:10, my waist should have been smaller than yours, don't you think?
No. Having smaller wasit is a good thing because you can probley run really fast. Thats why all of the athletes in the Olympics track and feild have small wasit too. I always thought I had a small wasit. I guess I was wrong.
Actualy my waist is probley smaller because I do wear a belt with all of my pants, I just buy 34 X 34 jeans easier to remember.

youre right about that.
you and i have nearly the same size waist even though we are the same height and i am almost 50 pounds heavier.
i was a sprinter in track and field while i was in college and it can be mostly attributed to my genetics since i never worked very hard to become good. i have a narrow waist but very big thighs and shoulders, you will see that on most olympic sprinters, they are not small nor skinny, usually very well muscled with a certain type of physique that lends itself to running fast.
also look at olympic swimmers, a guy like michael phelps is about 6'3, weighs around 200, but probably has a waist under 28 inches. there is a perfect physique for every sport if you really want to look at it that way.

if i worked out constantly i dont think i could achieve anything under 30 inches even in optimal shape, even if my weight were as low as 200.
i remember reading an interview with karl malone once where he said he has a 32 inch waist, and he weighed upwards of 280 pounds, now those are some serious genetics.
you sure you dont measure it too tightly? Im 6'3 210 lbs with a 33" waist and I only have between 6-7% body fat. dont think I could get my waist any lower. blows my mind how someone could weigh that much with that height on a 32" waist

I have read that your wrist measurment has alot to do with it. Small or big boned. I m 5'5 175 with a 30 inch waist and 8% bodyfat. I have small wrist though.

my wrists are ridiculously skinny. there barely 7" around. I was very skinny as a young kid but filled out when I reached 14 or 15. if it wasnt for the heavy weights I'd probably be 190 lber
