I think AJ has a fair chance for a variety of reasons, among them:
    • Joshua has often been better against tall HWs than shorter ones.
    • Fury's defensive rep is largely built on the Wlad fight, when Wlad for some reason couldn't or wouldn't let his hands fly. I don't see Joshua having that problem. Far less adept boxers such as Wilder and Wallin have laid serious glove on Fury and there is no reason to think AJ will struggle to hit him.
    • AJ was clearly rattled by what happened in the first Ruiz fight, and this seemed to be a continuation of a loss of confidence he experienced after getting rocked by Wlad (that is, he seemed a bit gunshy against Joseph Parker). I don't think he fears getting rocked by Fury, rightly or wrongly. We are therefore most likely going to see the offensive, looking-for-a-stoppage version of Joshua, which is the dangerous version.
    • Fury is bigger and heavier, but not stronger. The size and weight will help him in the clinch, but AJ's strength will likely make it difficult for him to maintain clinches and he will be at risk of getting battered on the inside.

That all said, Fury is the more natural fighter and criticism of Joshua for having some quit in him is probably not entirely unvalid. If Fury adminsters damage as he did against Wilder in the second fight, I would expect Joshua to have a No Mas moment.

I suspect Fury would take a lot of damage himself if he goes full on Kronk against Joshua though.

I respect what you've written, and we won't find out unless they fight; however, I believe that Fury's functional strength (as a boxer/fighter) is far greater than that of Joshua, and that's all that matters (and not AJ's ability to lift weight in the gym).

None of these guys are “Battering” each other or anyone in one round. Not when they fight B+ level competition or when they fight each other. The first round is the feel out round for all of them.

And I resoect your respect! You're quite right, of course, that we won't find out unles they fight; it's all theory until then. I have little doubt Fury's ability to lean, grapple and effectively use his physical advantages are prodigious, but I have some scepticism that if it comes down to brute strength that Fury can out-muscle Joshua. Maybe later in the fight, as Fury does seem to have exceptional aerobic endurance.

Gonna love to bump this thread once AJ KOs Fury in 10.

              Agreed

              Fury is naturally around 270lbs

AJ has to be absoloutley pumping iron and eating a ton of food to be above 235

While I think early on AJ will be able to match Fury's for strength he will quickly become drained of energy and Fury will take over physically.

But in that kind of fight I can see Fury stopping Joshua. Fury can fight front foot or back foot.
Anyone could KO Joshua - he has a poor chin. But only one guy managed it and that was a guy who took Joshua's best shots first.

Mabe Fury will stop him, but it's not some easy fight. Joshua has beat good opposition.

Joshua isn't actually that pumped - people always think he is because he has good muscle definition. But if you look at the pic of him next to The Rock he looks slim and athletic in comparison. He's not as huge and muscular as people think.

Sure Wilder swings for the fences but in the last 5 years he's been better at his delivery with straight arm rights knocking people out. He laid out Ortiz in the 2nd with a straight right. He hit Ortiz with many straight rights in the first fight and at the end caught him with an upper. He laid out Breazeale with a straight right. He laid out Fury in the first fight with a straight right followed by a left hook (though fury got up). I can keep going... You don't get lucky just winging it throwing for the fences for 40+ opponents.
