Comments Thread For: Navarrete-Villa: Purse Bid Looms As Talks Continue For Vacant WBO Title Fight

The process to position Emanuel Navarrete for a shot at a second divisional title was much easier than actually getting him in the ring. A fresh round of talks to challenge for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight title is faced with the threat of a purse bid hearing looming overhead. Navarrete and his team are currently negotiating with unbeaten featherweight contender Ruben Villa, with the title fight ordered on August 19. The sanctioning body ruling came with a ten (10) day deadline for the two sides to reach a deal.

Interesting style matchup. For whatever reason I thought Navarrete had a decent height advantage over Villa but it's actually pretty even.

Villa has displayed some impressive skills. He has good foot and hand movement but not much in the way of power. Navarrete let's his heavy hands go.

I'm curious to see if Villa can use his movement and skills to potshot, frustrated and prevent Navarrete from getting his shots off.

I favor El Vaquero by stoppage but wouldn't be surprised if Ruben gives him some problems.
