He better come very well prepared. The Charlos do seem to keep in top shape.

This will be a good one

“I believe I am still improving. Team Havoc are always pushing me to improve in different ways. Every day is different and I am pushed to continue to improve as much as I can in every session. My energy to get better is still there and I am getting a better fighter.

“This fight is going to be a great fight, but I believe that my experience and skill set will be too much for Charlo. I mean no disrespect, but I believe I am at a level where Jermall has never been at before. He has not boxed anybody with my skills, and it will show on the night when I become WBC middleweight champion of the world.”

Makings of a great future. I liked what I saw in Derev and thought that he still has quite a bit to learn to be a real threat and be the best in the division. He shows a lot of promise and will no doubt bring his best and improve in his fight with Charlo.

      But why the PPV?

Goldenboy promoted Canelo on the P4P list as he skipped difficult styles and refused mandatories.

I'm paraphrasing here, but in an interview Oscar said Charlo's people rejected a lucrative deal. Oscar also said that he didn't know who made the decision but he didn't believe it was Charlo himself.

The fact that Charlo's team turned down a massive deal with Hearn only made the story all that much more plausible.

What was the criteria to fight Canelo again?

            1. Not be a threat
            2. Have a decent enough name for DAZN to be happy.

The PPV is the only way they can afford to names into the ring for the money they are demanding. It's a gamble that puts more risk on the fighter and less on the promoter/network. IMO the steaming will kill sales but that's another story.

Some fighters demand massive guaranteed purse and that often makes even PPVs impossible. Recently Keith Thurman demanded 10 million + and insisted the promoter pay for it knowing the numbers weren't there but that was more of a ploy to stay relative.

In this particular fight I don't believe the guaranteed purse is half of what Thurman demanded and still the PPV model may not be enough. But hey, they knowingly took the PPV risk because the fighters actually want the fight.

I don't think it's PPV worthy but I'll pay just to support a competitive fight in these difficult times.

Good matchup.... Finally a Legit opponent and threat for Charlo after the crap b-level fighters he has faced! Still not Ppv worthy though!

This is a damned good fight. Couple it with the other Charlo in a unification vs Rosario, definitely ppv worthy in my book. Spence vs D Garcia? Maybe ppv worthy. Tank/Santa Cruz? Not ppv worthy.

I hate to say it but even if the Charlo offer was real and turned down that doesn't explain why no Andrade.

Personally, I think Oscar and Floyd ruined competitive boxing and the DAZN money just made everything all that much more crazy.

In these difficult times I'll support competitive fights. I may hold my nose and pay for Spence vs Garcia but Tank Cruz doesn't make the cut.

That said, if there is no Vada drug testing I won't pay anything.
