it was mainly the wbcs doing. They were scared that Canelo would throw a fit again if they tried to enforce a mandatory that he didn't want to fight, just like he did with ggg a few yrs ago. Hence came the brilliant birth child of the franchise title. A make believe belt that can't be lost... Unless you're Lomanchenko because apparently he could lose his to Lopez as per the wbc, but Canelo can hold his franchise title until infinity regardless of opposition faced or losses.
