Povetkin/whyte kind of match up is what we need in boxing, a real challenge and should be encouraged.
Whyte was in a strong position for a mandatory title fight but he risked it on the line to take a dangerous fight. He could have stayed idle and wait for his shot but the man is a warrior, he wants all the big names he can get, either win or loose.
We should encourage him to encourage others instead of slamming him on the face.
    This.

Povetkin-Whyte was the first major fight since COVID began, and it delivered BIG.

Whyte was in shape and focused. He was in the lead before the KO. And he got caught with a punch setup that explored his technical flaw.

Why ***** on Whyte? He took a risk and delivered entertainment. He is not making silly excuses. If we discourage Whyte then all we get is mismatches and boring safety first fights.

Big thanks to Whyte, and good luck to him in the rematch.

White can comeback. But he can talk about fury ducking him without taking fights like povetkin

        Exactly.

The level of hypocrisy is unparalleled in any sport on the planet. That is what Bob Arum and the Tyson Fury bandwagon has done to boxing.

They swam in the wake of the Matchroom/DAZN purse inflation so all they have contributed is taking two attempts to beat Wilder and claim to be the GOAT purely because they are unbeaten.

When Fury gets beaten, watch them scatter back to the gypsy camps.

Don’t worry, I’m sure Hearn will encourage others to not slam his face again in future

These bums need to stop thinking about Tyson and mentioning his name, and concentrate on their own careers.

If you get into a war of words with Fury, you will lose and make yourself look very foolish.
Yeah, he really shouldn't have been paying any attention to Fury in the lead up to a fight as dangerous as that.

Both were long reigning champions, one of whom was the best fighter of his era.

That gives Fury the best resume in the division, AJs best win is Furys sloppy seconds.

Number of legitimate champions Fury has dethroned - 2

Number of legitimate champions AJ has dethroned - 0

                  Nonsense?

                  Pfft. Please.
What’s to explain? Would you prefer he have wins over Lucas Browne and Rivas ?
Or killers like mariusz wach ?
Not to mention struggling to seal the deal with Derek chisora.

Remember, fury ended klitschkos unbeaten streak. And wilders unbeaten streak. And those two wins Place him right up the top.

Joshua took the sloppy seconds, and hit the deck and almost got stopped against Klitschko.

And then got stopped by Ruiz and had a boring (but effective) rematch against Ruiz.

Fury is the divisions clear number one. And Whyte wasn’t even the divisions clear number four.

Whyte, and no other heavyweight now is at Fury's level. Keep an eye on Daniel Du Bois though, he looks like the real deal, even if not fully tested yet.

Didn't see the fight, but from what I read, Whyte was easily winning the fight, then got caught! He should win the rematch! He looked like he was in pretty good shape too! So I don't think he was overlooking Povetkin, but that happens sometimes when you think you've got your opponent in trouble, i.e. Pacquiao vs. Marquez, and Joshua vs. Ruiz!
