I'm not sure Whyte should rush in to a rematch, back to back knockouts could end his career. His confidence will have taken a hit as he was in great shape. Povetkin will be confident and ready knowing he can do it again.

This is not happening. Hearn won't pay to get his guy beat, lose money, and Whyte won't draw flies. Nobody is bidding for it, I don't think it will sell in Russia. Whyte dug himself a hole and got laid in it. He talked so much, most people are glad he's gone.Comment

Whytes chin is shattered, he seems to get wobbled or dropped in almost every fight. Can't say I have watched the full fight yet but it looked like Povetkin was better throught the fight (wasn't just a lucky punch)Comment

You aren’t even making sense. The refs don’t get the benefit of hindsight. One gave a count to concussed guy not even moving and the other instantly waived off the fight for a concussed guy not even moving. The two situations parallel exactly.Comment

Imho thats the best thing that happened to boxing 2020. For atleast 2 weeks, we dont have to read 10 articles a week of Whyte talking about himself how good he is, how everyone is scared, who he knocked down in sparring, how Wilder ducked him, how fury is ducking him, how he should have been champion for atleast 4 years...
I dont even want to see a rematch, if he wants to rematch someone, go to ParkerComment

The idiot is the guy that can’t see the obvious. In both situations the ref is in the moment.
Even small children know the ref can’t magically tell how long a concussed fighter will be out. What is your formula for knowing whether a completely concussed guy will hop up at the count of 9 or be out for the next three days.
Both were knocked completely out. The ref waived Whyte’s fight off instantly. Fury’s Ref was counting like getting to 10 meant an @ss woopin. Where is the consistency?Comment

Called it along time ago. Whyte is too sloppy to be considered a top fighter. Knew sooner or later he was going to cherry pick himself into an obscurity his mouth couldn’t explain. The Dazn fall from glory continues.
And those who dare say the first Fury vs Wilder fight wasn’t a KO... look at how quickly the ref waived this fight off. This is what is supposed to happen when Simone is concussed. When a concussion is clear for the ref, you are not supposed to count someone back to consciousness. Any additional damage could put that fighters life at serious risk.Comment

Povetkin is a pretty cagey and crafty fighter. I thought he looked old but early on he started to set up the eventual KO punch by dropping down and strafing Whyte to the body with a punch. In the 5th, he did the same thing and Whyte anticipated the body shot but Poverkin hit him with an uppercut that he wasn't expecting.
Not sure who wins the rematch, really can go either way.Comment

For those that think Reiss should have stopped Wilder vs. Fury I...go watch the fight back, watch Fury win the rest of the round and have Wilder out on his feet. If you still think Fury was unable to continue, then you should switch to watching badminton because boxing clearly isn't for you lol
Also not sure why you'd use the Whyte knockout as a comparison. Povetkin's uppercut literally lifted Whyte off the ground.
Different fights, different fighter reactions and different referees. I've seen fighters completely unconscious and a ref still count to 10 before waving it off.
Reminded me alot of the first Groves/Froch fight. A fighter can be dropped hard and rise up to get the better of his opponent.Comment
