Comments Thread For: Hearn: Whyte's Loss Frees Fury For Joshua, Whyte-Povetkin Rematch Next

Dillian Whyte was knocked out cold by Alexander Povetkin, as the Russian viciously halted his world title ambitions in the finale of Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood, Essex. Whyte had completely controlled the fight, flooring his opponent twice in the fourth round, but was smashed by a left uppercut in the fifth that ended his hopes in a flash.

There's just the little matter of Pulev, Wilder and Usyk to overcome, but yeah other than that, it's just fast Eddie running his mouth again.

It was the kind of result that gives a wake up call to the drama and capriciousness of HW boxing. You cannot rely on a result. A knockout is always one good swing away. And that is a good thing!

He came up wanting on the night, but I applaud Whyte for taking on the difficult fights. Now, we only need all the other fighters to follow suit...

Like Custer hollering for the Indians to surrender. He just lost half his chips and still calling the shots? Warren is breathing down his neck Joe v Db is promoter gold, but Warren is another story. Hes nowhere near as ruthless, but he still has time to blow it.

Whyte has finally been exposed he was gifted the result against Parker, brutally knocked out by Povetkin. Was stopped in his first title shot against Joshua and struggled against Chisora. He won't be this selling point if ever gets another title shot especially as he got caught using illegal drugs last year.

Theoretically the timing would work out well if Joshua beats Pulev in December and Fury beats Wilder in the early part of the year. Sets up the unification for the Summer
