If we are to take the romance out of this story...what we saw was a crippled fighter who couldn't turn on his right leg. Out in the field he gets busted by Canelo. On the ropes he gets brutalized by Golovkin. He ate enough uppercuts for me to say that that is the way he is going out. One can only hope it's to a B-level opponent before he can garner enough false confidence that he calls out someone who puts him in the hospital. Nice of him to offer us some entertainment during the pandemic though. Thanks Serge.
I don't think anyone is saying that he's back to the Maravilla of 2009-2012. If anything his victory was just getting back in the ring to compete. He looked decent, even impressive considering the circumstances and perhaps he can take a baby-step up in competition if he decides to fight on.
Haven't seen it yet, but based on the pre-fight pics he looks to have gotten himself in excellent shape. Not sure if that transferred to the fight though.
