David Benavidez won't allow losing his title to stop him from pursuing a grudge match with Caleb Plant. Benavidez gave up his WBC super middleweight title at the scale Friday, but he remains hopeful of facing Plant, the unbeaten IBF 168-pound champion. Phoenix's Benavidez acknowledged after stopping Alexis Angulo on Saturday night, however, that he is uncertain if facing Plant is possible in the foreseeable future now that Benavidez doesn't own a title.

If I were Benavidez I would chase a title before fighting Plant because Plant would be the A-side as the champion. Maybe Benavidez can make something happen against Callum Smith or Billy Joe. Strip their title. Dimitri Bivol has said he wanted to move down to 168.. those would be great fights to make you DB the A-side vs Plant which would be a pretty good money fight

For real. He's his own worst enemy at the moment. Don't think anybody wants it with Benavidez. Now all these other dudes flocking to that belt now that they know that the only guy in their way of getting it is Yildirim. Nobody even looked that way when Benavidez had it bc they see the real danger in facing him. If he really plans on staying at SMW, hopefully he doesn't fail to make weight again. Don't need to see him battering guys that really have no chance against him just to climb back up the ladder. He's clearly a world-class fighter and needs to carry himself like one.
