  • Comments Thread For: WBC Abolishes Automatic Point Deduction Rule For Unintentional Fouls

Several years ago, the WBC instituted a rule where there would be an automatic point deduction in the event of a unintentional/accident foul, like a head clash or elbow. Pursuant to the rule, the referee was bound to deduct one point from the uninjured boxer - if the unintentional/accidental foul would result in the other boxer suffering a cut, a significant abrasion or substantial swelling.

      Interesting.

Porter butted a lot of guys when he was champ. Did he never cut anyone?

U can get away with three or four low blow before u lose a point sometimes, and those are just the ones the ref sees. But I will have to say I don’t notice a lot fighters taking advantage of that and they are mostly class. But I hate hearing people say a guy like Big Baby on PEDs could kill somebody lol In what world and on anything does he hit harder than a Wilder or a Tyson, Lewis? Yeah PEDS are illegal and cheating but we are fine with a few heaters to the cup? Would u rather fight a Tyson on gear or take four of his hardest shots to ur cup and only have it cost him a point? A huge cut bleeding into ur eye from an unintentionally head butt is no big deal but we lose it over PEDS? So if someone on PEDs head butts or low blows someone does that mean they will die? I’m for an even playing field but I think think there’s sum perspective people miss.

Great, now if we can we get refs that actually enforce points deductions for intentional fouls, like the late great Eddie Cotton, we would be all set.

There’s a lot of shi-t they let slide these days. I see a lot of the new guys push off a lot. Last time I saw a ref deduct a point was when Khan fought Peterson

They should deduct points for excessive hugging, that would make fights much better. Floyd Mayweather was the king of hugging and neve had a point deducted.

You do know that this hugging thing is a myth right. The facts/numbers prove otherwise.

The only fight Floyd used excessive hugging was in the Maidana rematch, but no Maidana supporter can ***** about that without being a complete hypocrite coz there ain't no fighter dirtier than Maidana, not even Shawn Porter.
