So why didn't the WBC order Canelo vs. Benavidez when Benevidez had the title?

Canelo or/and his team lobbied to the WBC to fight for the vacant title.

Had they lobbied to become Benavidez’s mandatory at 168, I’m sure the WBC would have obliged.

It’s harsh on the #2 contender (Abdugofurov I think) but Mauricio loves those Canelo paydays.

Yildirim was Benavidez's mandatory, Benavidez lost the title on the scales, Yildirim still has the right to fight for the title. It was going to be Yildirim vs someone.

this benavidez guy doesnt seem like the real deal to me. 168 seems like a trash fire like back in the old days of ottke and calzahe. why cant we remove divisions?

Canelo tells the WBC what to do.. not the other way around. i dont believe he's being pressured to take this fight .. he demanded this opponent.
