How does a split even work in this situation? Normally, fighters split their share of the gate receipts, sponsorship money and PPV money, if any. So that if revenues for the fighters from all sources are $50 million, a 75/25 split yields $37.5 million for one fighter and &12.5 million for the other, but in this situation with there is no revenue from gate receipts, sponsorships or PPV. DAZN guarantees Canelo $30 million or thereabouts irrespective of circumstances. Where does the other fighter's money come from? If DAZN loses the bid and the fight is aired on network tv or another streaming source will the contract with DAZN prevent Canelo from fighting for the championship. I assume it doesn't, but who knows?

I echo your sentiment. My use of a legitimate title solely alludes to the fact that he previously captured a regular title from fielding, hence this would be a “full” title. Until he faces a benevidez, smith or plant it’s hard to designate him as the man at 168. This fight literally does nothing to establish the hierarchy of the smw division
