A contract can be modified in whole or in part, depending on the needs of the parties. Also, a contract can be modified either before signing or after the contract is formally agreed to. ... If any party does not agree to a contract modification, the changes are not likely to be enforceable.
DAZN is looking to cut Canelo's money dramatically

How about cutting ggg's money and not giving him equity? At least canelo has fought tough fights in DAZN, but ggg only fought steve rolls and got demolished by derevyanchenko. Canelo's $$$ is somewhat justified, but ggg? He is not even worth 1/4 of what he is currently getting.Comment

Yea but that's future money isn't it so it's not like he'll definitely see it? If DAZN can't fulfill the rest of the agreed to contract by all parties & let's assume Canelo can make better money elsewhere than this new restructuring pay why would he wanna stick with DAZN? How could DAZN keep him for less than market value? That doesn't compute to me.
Granted in this situation its not as easy as the above since it sounds like GBP is a middleman between DAZN & Canelo, but the basic premise seems to stand.Last edited by TonyGe; 09-18-2020, 12:38 AM.Comment

What Makes a Contract Void?
The object of the agreement is illegal or against public policy (unlawful consideration or subject matter)
The terms of the agreement are impossible to fulfill or too vague to understand.
There was a lack of consideration.
Fraud (namely false representation of facts) has been committed.
DAZN has hope. It has to fold in order to save itself. What a disgrace.Comment

Respect to Canelo holding his ground. Whatever DAZN is trying to drop his pay down to Canelo could probably make more than it via PPV so if DAZN renegs on the deal Canelo makes more money perhaps. So it's likely win win for Canelo to not agree to less money & just dispute the contract/get DAZN to opt out of the agreed deal if they won't pay him what's in the contract.
For Nelo to make decent ppv money he needs the right opponent.
So in the end it comes down to if Nelo is willing to fight the fights the public wants.
Im not sure anyone wants to see Canelo knock out this Turk guy for another belt.
Well maybe just his fanboys.Comment

Idk the answer to those questions but I gotta assume it's reaching a point where Canelo is willing to test the waters being that he's dis*****g his situation with DAZN/GBP now.Comment

There is no future money guaranteed depending on how the company is restructured. If the adjudicator determines that continuing the contract will cause the company to go under they may declare it null and void. This is assuming that DAZN is on the verge of bankruptcy and they apply to have an adjudicator determine how the company can be saved. It happened here in Canada at a company I worked for. The US laws are probably very similar.
That's why I'm saying Canelo doesn't nor shouldn't accept any new situation. He can likely make similar money from Showtime & he's back on the map again if this DAZN thing falls apart which it likely does if he's out. I still hear the random casual fan that still don't know wtf happened to Canelo so getting back on Showtime for equal or better money is probably a plus.Comment

No doubt. Especially fooking Andrade lol. At least AJ & GGG got fans.
As to GGG specifically I would say he should be more inclined to work with DAZN since hes got some small ownership in the company. GGG needs DAZN to succeed or he's pissed some of his DAZN deal money away that in theory could be a 8 or 9 figure retirement fund payday at some future date.
Peace be upon you my friendComment

How many local businesses do you know of that have taken hits during the pandemic? Even the companies we work for, mine has taken a hit, colleagues made redundant, people still furloughed, the industry has taken a massive hit. People think the economy in the UK is slowly recovering, but the real effects won't become apparent for another 6-12 months. The whole world is going to be feeling the effects for a number of years. So nobody should be surprised by these ridiculous, overpaid sports "stars" are going to take a big hit. It isn't a bad thing. People on here arguing Canelo's case, like earning $35M per fight wasn't ridiculous from the outset.Comment
