And I think TMT is pretty cautious about with whom they let their fighters get in the ring. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is the master matchmaker, so if he had any say on this fight, they must see something, some kind of weakness with Jackson. But I think that Jackson is going to hurt Rollies and probably win.

I disagree completely Floyd/Leonard matches guys softly. There is no US promotion that gets their guys 0 taken early more than Mayweather Promotions boxers. Granted that's not been the case with Rollie up til now, but largely MP boxers get their feet put in the fire. And while Tank got pushed into the Pedraza fight early they have moved him more carefully since that fight overall, the MP guys seem to have to earn their keep sooner than the average promoters prospects.

I do agree Rollie could get beaten here doe & if he wins or not this will easily be his best opposition.

Yeah. You're probably right there. I can see that. With Tank and Pedraza, that was a good fight on paper. And it should have been a more difficult fight for Tank. I think Tank was the favorite to win, regardless, but Jose's strategy was the WORST strategy I've seen someone come in with. Pedraza is a boxer, a pure boxer. And he goes in and in-fights with Davis. I mean, Jose is a lot of good things but he's not a puncher. So whatever compelled him to just stand in the pocket and punch with Davis I suppose I'll never know. He gave himself a one percent chance of winning.

Anyway, that was a digression, I can see your point here. I think it's good for boxers to get a loss. We need to go back to the days where that 0 didn't mean so much. It use to be that if a boxer and a ZERO, it meant he's a coward and has only been fighting cans his whole life. We need it to be a little more like the UFC. Like Masvidal, who lost a lot before he started winning. People learn more from a loss than a win, most of the time.

Anyway, I totally agree this is Romero's best opponent so far, and, in my opinion, Rollie will have to knock out Mariñez to win. I'm pretty certain of that.

WTF are you talking about? What has he backed up? He hasn't beat anyone even close to being contender status, let alone legitimate title holders. Even Ryan Garcia, with all his talk about getting paid more from social media than boxing, isn't as deluded as Rolly. At least he's fought decent competition. He has more of a right to trash talk than Rolly even though he hasn't proved his ability to compete with the best until he beats Luke Campbell.

Yea I'm a fan of Rollie & gotten to see him fight live here in Vegas a couple times & I do think he gots potential, but the story with sparring is he gets a lil rough & reckless + he seems to *******ly bring up sparring stories which isn't likely to do you any favors in getting higher profile work sooner or later.

And of course no one is talking about him cuz he's not done anything yet or gotten much momentum going in his career. He's had 11 fights & has had 5mos or longer between them half the time while only going past the 2nd round three times. He should be much more active than he's been. Assume that's more on MP than him doe but who knows.

That said this fight is a step in the right direction, but it seems like a lofty move forward having never been past 6 rounds & going into a 12 rounder vs a unbeaten guy who's been deep a few times. If this gets into the 4th or 5th round it will be interesting to see how Rollie holds up gas tank wise & in general.

i think it is a good test with a lot of risk and reward. Las week another up an comer prospect fought an undefeated seasoned veteran, in just his third pro fight. With only 3 rounds under his belt, he tgrew a nearly shutout. Maybe Romero is ready maybe his is not. I do beleive he is fun to watch.

Who has been feeding lies to this Ricky Romero? They are going to fuuuuk up his career. Kid is ****y as $hiit, but doesn’t know how to fight! He should not be in the list of 20 contenders to any title. He should be fighting in the high schools gyms and in Las Vegas carnivals. He should keep his mouth shut and start learning from a reall trainer. Ryan Garcia will ko him in the first 5 rds he is too far ahead of him.
