The most anticipated fight on the current 2020 scheduled will carry the Franchise tag. Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez are all set for a multi-belt unification bout, agreeing to all terms on Wednesday evening. The good news made its way to the well-attended (virtually) 58th annual World Boxing Council (WBC) convention, with various promoters and representative celebrating the fight.

I’d pay big money to see that happen
Not cause of Canelo , but just to see the nuthuggers lose it

          Totally agree
          They really need to go
This is totally ridiculous. First it can't be lost in the ring but now it can. It was already a farce when it was first dreamed up. The WBC collectively need to take a cognitive impairment test.

Top Rank encouraging this Franchise Champion bullshit.

They don't want their guys to have to face any mandatories, especially if those mandatories are under the control of another promoter.

Vasily Bumochenko sets another world record in the sport of boxing: Vasily is now the first WBC 'titlist' in its 57 year history to inaugurate a transferable 'Franchise championship'.

How do you not love this guy? You want to talk about progress?! Now we can see even more 'Undisputed' world champions, with the bonus of having even more championship fights for 'regular' championships!

                    The bold made me .
By the way, who's the real WBC 'champion'? Haney or Loma? It's confusing.

WBC is already a joke as it is but is quickly increasing higher levels of jokeness. 1st they invented a non-transferable ‘Franchise’ champ a yr ago. Now they bend their own rules and make ‘Franchise’ belt transferrable. Or does it only apply in a particular fight?
