  • Comments Thread For: WBC Prez Paying No Attention To Team Fury, Team Whyte Bickering

World Boxing Council President Maurcio Sulaiman is not paying attention to the back and forth bickering between the teams for heavyweights Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte. Whyte is the mandatory challenger to Fury, who holds the WBC's world title.

Povetkin wins, Whyte disappears, like the way this story will read soon...

The opinions of Whyte and/or the WBC are completely irrelevant. If Fury doesn't feel like wasting his time with Whyte then he can simply vacate the belt. Whyte can become a paper champion similar to Charles Martin.

Assuming he even gets past Povetkin that is. Whyte looked like absolute garbage last fight.

Good. Hope they stick to their word for once. Fury is trying to duck Whyte and possibly fight another bum this year before fighting Wilder then possibly AJ after that. But he can't just do what he wants to. Fury, his promoters and his fans are all scared of Whyte, there is no other way to look at it. But Fury should man up and actually defend a belt for once and defend it against a top guy, not Sefari, Pianeta and Wallin types.

Unless his mandatory position is dependent on fighting Povetkin, methinks he is risking it all!!!
Not saying he loses but it is quite possible.

You do not mess with a Povetkin when you are all but guaranteed a shot at the HW belt and the life changing $$$$ that comes with it.

Whoever is advising him needs to be slapped upside the head!

Fury and wilder aren't fighting this year. We'll be lucky to see them mid to late summer 2021. They aren't going to fight without a full crowd because for both this could mean the last big pay day.

Whoever loses won't see the big cash event for unification, so both won't fight until they can make the trilogy as big as they can with full attendance.

Whyte has no choice but to wait. Oh well... They won't strip fury if he waits to fight wilder. There's too much on his side. He's contracted to fight wilder next and the legitimate delay due to the virus. The wbc will no doubt see it in his favor as they should. It's a business, they want the trilogy to be big and not behind closed doors or limited seats filled. They will lose millions.

If Whyte is lucky, he might have an attempt at the wbc belt at the end of 2021.

Couldn't agree with this any more, finally someone talking some sense. Fury shouldn't be allowed to just fight bum after bum and there not be any consequence. Stick him in with Dillian so they can at least test him before he gets the big fight. I'm not sure other fighters are scared of Dillian as such but it is high risk low reward and DWhyte always brings a challenge, bar the last fight for obvious reasons.

Lol... WBC gave up a lot of power creating the Franchise Bull-Ish.

How can you force Fury to fight Whyte if you just let Canelo and Loma off the hook From Charlo and Haney? That short term money will get you caught up every time. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
