Full credit to Katie for taking the fight as she knows the magnitude of the test that awaits her in the ring, and she is well aware what a torrid torrid and frankly hurtful and bruising time that she had against Delfine and just how fit, tough and physically strong a lady that she is.
I suspect that despite her claims otherwise, that she has quite likely been backed into a corner by Mr Hearn to take the Persoon fight, which admittedly will give his card an X -Factor that no other opponent could. By declining the fight Katie would have had to admit that she was afraid to face Define again, something that her pride probably couldn't countenance. Although I am in completely in love with this fight so much, I am frightened for Katie, that although she possesses the better boxing skills, that she just cannot match up to Define on a physical level. Define holds just so many advantages over Katie that I just cannot see how she can overcome them. Boxing may help initially, but Define never gets outboxed, as she is very very physical and has an incredibly high workrate and is an exceptional pressure fighter.
I have broken down some advantages of both boxers below.

    katie:
    Faster hands
    Very fluid movement
    Excellent boxing skills
    Better counter puncher
    Better timing

    Define:
    Taller
    Fitter with higher workrate
    Better pressure fighter
    Heavier punches
    Very hard and stiff jab
    Better stamina and punch resistance
Good at cutting the ring off
    Tougher
    Very strong physically
    Stronger in clinches
    Granite chin
Good boxer, good slugger and very capable in the trenches
Knows she can hurt and wear Katie down with her pressure.
Knows that Katie cannot hurt her.

Another interesting factor, is that Delfine will likely be afforded a better and more professional training camp for this fight as she has reportedly taken more time off from her day job to train. She may also come in on the weight limit this time, rather than several pounds under as in the first fight. This could be really significant, as even as the lighter bixer, Define was clearly the physically stronger woman, and this time she may have even better conditioning and be even stronger. This would be a nightmare scenario for Katie and is very feasible.

So sorry for the long post, but I am incredibly excited about this fight.
Don't apologies. Well informed post. Great contribution, i would rather read this long post, than the shorter ones with zero contribution, zero sense in their post, verbal abuse at the boxers etc. And that is coming from the so-called "Fan" of this sport....They need a 3 minute round for this fight though.

She got a questionable decision in a fight. Relax. It happens. Is calling her "Irish trash" and a c**t really necessary?
My issue with Katie is literally everyone and there dog could see she lost that fight, as a champion, 2 time olympic medallist and all that, she should have immediately wanted to right the wrong, instead she made numerous quite arrogant comments from that fight, one of which saying i dont care what people say or think im the undisputed champ etc.

Fair enough, and thanks for the mature reply (which isn't always the case around here). I just don't think the personal attacks and insults on her are warranted. Most boxers, particularly in competitive fights, always think they won. And that was a highly competitive fight. No she didn't give Persoon the rematch right away but at the end of the day she is fighting her again.

I agree, was suprised they have taken the persoon rematch, i thought they was stall it further and wait till persoon was abit older before going again, so props where props are due, that being said just read a article from earlier where Taylor is claiming that she thinks Serrano never really wanted to fight her and was making excuses, yet if you read both sides of the story... it was clear that Hearn was treating Serrano like she was a challenger and would just say yes to everything matchroom was doing, as in shifting the fight date and location many times and then trying to offer her less money etc. I dont blame team serrano for backing out fter being treated like she brought nothing to the table.
