Well he is definitely a contender, just not @ World level. Given the chance he'd give the Dubois/Joyce winner a run for his money & I'd personally like to see it.

He is the meaning of fringe contender/gatekeeper. Too good for domestic/euro level but not good enough to crack the top 15. He is still young enough to take the next step but losses to Parker, Pulev & Povetkin have held him back. He looked great against the tough Rudenko but that was where he peaked. Povetkin & Pulev were both on the wrong side of 35.

I see Hughie as top level gatekeeper. Every world class hw should beat him. Even past prime Pulev and Povetkin did it.
