  • Is Boxing lagging behind MMA because they don't have the CHARACTERS?

Say what you will about MMA fighters but a lot of the men look like create a fighters out of a Grand Theft Auto game and quite a few of the girls look like Instagram models who put on 4oz gloves.

That stuff sells now in today's overstimulated low attention span culture.

I think Tyson Fury is the only boxer now playing the game by being a character, fighting in the WWE calling out MMA fighters.

Boring and "humble" doesn't sell now. Money Mayweather knew that too. Most boxers now lack that.

The most hyped upcoming fight now in Boxing is a freak show match with 50+ Mike Tyson and RJJ.

how is boxing lagging behind??? MMA is not huge, only the UFC is...That would be like if boxing had one company with all the elite boxers and paid them far less..you would get more shows and better match ups as they would make less and have less choices as they are cut off from fighting the other boxers and their promoter had the only belt they could win....pretty simple..Boxing as a whole generates more money and has far more options as in MMA they are not all fighting each other

because the fighters don't have character anymore and ain't willing to fight the best without diva nonsense and drama.

Make the best fights available and the audience will watch.

Dulorme vs James was a ESPN Friday night fights opener, not a main event.

it always cracks me up when i read stuff like "i like loma because hes classy and humble...teo is a loud mouth braggart"...or similar statements applied to a wide variety of fighters

the world would be pretty boring if everyone were the same...we need colorful guys...loud mouths...and we need humble, classy guys as well.....theres room for both....boxing has both...as does ufc....ufcs popularity has to do with it being a unified brand thats able to control everything and make any fight they want to rather easily...its that simple

          Exactly.

UFC has a great marketing team to hype up every fighter as if they are the second coming when convenient.

Realistically Jorge Masvidal is a C/B level fighter hyped up as the baddest MF. Wasn't Rhonda Rousey the baddest woman ever not that long ago? Connor Mcgregor is another C/B level fighter, etc. Products of great hype machines and marketing.

Great machine behind UFC and the fact the fights fans want get made, not difficult to understand why fans tune in.

Put Loma vs Lopez on ESPN and break records ratings wise. Any fight fan knows neither of these fighters are hype jobs, though some posters here would lead you to believe.

Boxing biggest problem is promoters and networks cannot work together and in fact try to actively sabotage each other

The ufc doesn't have this problem as its rivals are mickey mouse promotions.

you literally just describe the UFC..They literally do not work or make fights outside of UFC...YOU DO KNOW THERE IS MORE MMA THEN UFC RIGHT?? They are literally 1 promoter making fights with his own fighters....
