Last month, Top Rank closed out their summer "Bubble" series in Las Vegas with Oscar Valdez stopping Jayson Velez in the 10th round of the main event. All of the series' fights were broadcast by Top Rank broadcast partner ESPN on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout June and July along with three Saturday cards that took place in Mexico.

Uh hu. Yep.. It's ok to admit you made a mistake. In Valdez's case that mistake was deciding to go with this new trainer. Publicity don't make a good trainer. A trainer should add to one's skill level not take away. That is all the Reynose hype does. Take from your skill and your purse..

YDSAB. Valdez is learning to be composed and calm defensively versus being more offensively before. The young lad also got his jaw broken you idiot. How did Victor Ortiz’s career turn out with his chin?

Well then stop boxing if you are so worried about getting hurt. You can pretend all you want but obviously you haven't seen Valdez fight before this new style. If so then you are blind and if not blind your are which is probably the case another easily influenced, can't think for himself moron and I'm being polite. Here's a bit of news for you lencho, people bleed and get hurt in a sport called boxing. There are many out there can't stomach that. So take some pepto and go watch golf. Might save you from an ulcer.

I do agree Valdez sometimes seemed a little lost in there, but he didn't get hit as much as he used to and he knocked a guy out who never had been stopped. I also agree that I believe Berchelt is the favorite and should win, that being said Berchelt himself didn't look all that great in his last outing as well and his opponent wasn't as good as Velez. Now, both guys were coming off layoffs, fighting in this new way (without fans) so maybe it threw them off, I guess we will get answers when they meet.

I’m not influenced by the Bradley or Ward commentary of them crying of his style against Adam Lopez or Velez. Your crying about adjustment training doesn’t mean Valdez can’t stop learning...you realize the risk of Spence getting clipped on the jaw by Swift? It’s the hurt game. Respect the game. Stop crying for Robles

That Valenzuela guy was trash. Looked like 155lbs in the ring no cap.

Are you suggesting that Valdez should have stayed with his old trainer Manny Robles?

The same trainer he was with when he got his jaw broken due to fighting with a face first style?

The same trainer that Michael Conlan switched away from as well?

Why are you responding to Brandon Rios?

Valdez with his face first style before would never compete with the bigger and ferocious Berchelt. Valdez is NOT a big power puncher at this weight despite how badly he wants to be and fights like he is and he’s going to need to use skills that someone like Reynoso may (or may not) be able to help him with.

Valdes is trying to be more composed and not let his nature/temperament make him go face first against the now bigger and stronger men of this division. Hit and don’t get hit is *always* the primary goal.

Valdez seems like a really good kid, but Berchelt is gonna hurt him. Too much volume, too much power in both hands. Valdez won't be able to keep pace and will begin making mistakes and the end will come in 6-7 rounds. I'd love to see Berchelt vs. Tank Davis.
