And history shows the problem is worsening because we do not have an authoritative international body to prevent this laissez faire grab for cash.

It started in the 60's with the WBA splitting and the formation of the WBC. (Even back then the EBU anfd BBBoC were around)

This seemed to stabilise until the early 80's when another dispute lead to the formation of the IBF, and then the WBO in the late 80's with now the IBO gaining more recognition as a major sanctioning body.

There was one. Then Two. Then three. Then four. Now four plus one. In fact any arrangment of the letters 'W', B, A, E, I, O, U, N, C, and possibly more has lead to the establishment of well over 40-50 sanctioning bodies around the world.

I would rather see our sport arranged around the tyrannical tenure of Dana White for the good of the sport rather than the atrociously woeful mismatches being pushed as 'main events' and 'title fights' by the likes of PBC paycheck boys like Charlo and co.

How can a fighter sleep at night knowing he didn't win his belt via a real fight, or even by default? I guess money can numb a sense of pride and dignity.

The 90's saw so many HW fights never happen because of the obstacles raised by promoters, bodies and matchmakers.

Shame on them all. I love this sport, but I also think it's a total and utter disgrace.

If we keep shouting, someone might listen one day. Once we used to grace the front pages. In my country, there is virtually no coverage of the boxing world unless you pay for it.
As much as I hate Dana White, something in boxing has to happen like in UFC. 4 sanctioning bodies with multiple champions per sanctioning body is ridiculous. Because that leads to 5 or 6 undefeated fighters in the top 10 of each weight class.(yeah and 17 is too many as well). And no one is fighting each other as they are getting out of fights over the "A-side" argument. There has to be a change, but I seriously doubt any of us in our lifetime will see it as long as greedy promoters are around and can continue to rob the public of fights that need to be made protecting their fighters.

"The two interim title fights the WBA has approved for Saturday night in Los Angeles are two of the more egregious examples of the unscrupulous organization’s never-ending need to scam sanctioning fees out of boxers and promoters."

Let the church say...AMEN! WBA is the worst!

Why are you hating on the Charlo Bros.? Jermall Charlo put himself in position to be Canelo's mando! It was the WBC which elevated Canelo to "Franchise" Champion, which allowed him to swerve Charlo! Jermell beat John Jackson for a vacant WBC title, defended it, lost it, and won it back! Now he's in a unification bout for the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles! What's the problem with that?

They do it because fighters will pay for it
They pay for it because promoters believe it will bring in more money
It brings in more money because TV can market their fights
It all works as long as people tune in and watch.

            So stop watching.

Fighter's should get together and boycott the governing bodies. The belts are devalued so much that nobody cares and fighter's pay a fee for sanctioning the fight. When there's multiple champions in each weight class then nobody is a champion. There isn't multiple Superbowl champions every year.

I don't excuse the other sanctioning bodies, but by far the WBA is the biggest scam belt in boxing.

At least the WBA actually has them fighting for the belts, not like the WBC giving away Championship status to fighters that have fought no one in the top ten to be even called a CHAMPION!!! That's a joke!!!
