Exactly. Lopez needs new management. He realizes that Loma will end his career so he's attempting to 'cash out'..Knowing that with any other opponent he's getting nowhere near the pay he's getting with Loma..Beating Loma raises his value in itself...

“The contract we offered them is already more than double his highest purse and they starting talking all this crazy stuff,” Arum said to Yahoo Sports.
Well that's sad Bob! Basically he fought for the IBF title for peanuts, just to boost Terence Crawford's numbers for that BS Mean Machine fight! Out of Lopez, Tank, Haney, and Kingry, I think Lopez is the one who actually deserves his money most! Pay the man!Comment

1. Teo walks away on principle, ok fine
2. The perception is that Teo was afraid to lose and simply wanted to cash out
3. Loma ends up looking like the "good guy" now because he was willing to take less to make the fight happen and Teo wasn't.
4. Teo asked for this opportunity and now it seems like he's about to throw it away. That's not a good look, especially since Teo has talked so much about how he will beat Loma if given the chance
5. If Teo ends up facing someone else for less then he will be seen as having ducked Loma. Whether it's actually true or not doesn't matter because that will be the perception
6. Last but not least, Teo made the infamous "gotta feed my family" statement about a 1.2 million payday while people are losing their jobs due to a pandemic. Yes I know he gets less than that after taxes and paying everyone but still not a good lookComment

Leave Ryan Garcia out of this. But really, Ryan Garcia probably has more of legit case as a WBC titlist as the WBC 'Silver' champion, when you weigh it against Vasily Lomachenko's 'Franchise' title -- does that even come with a actual belt?Comment

Teo's manager made two interesting statements:
1. He said that ESPN should step in to salvage the fight
And
2. He mentioned that Top Rank shouldn't lose money, but neither should Teofimo
The problem is that
1. Lomachenko vs Lopez is a very good fight but it's not Mayweather-Pacquiao so I wouldn't expect ESPN to move mountains, especially with the NBA having restarted
2. He doesn't understand that all parties would be sacrificing with no live gate.
My hope (for Teo's sake) is that he gets himself a slightly improved offer (maybe a bump from 1.2 mill to say 1.4 or 1.5) so the fight can proceed as planned.Comment

Nobody should be agreeing to a oaycut from arum. He's been robbing boxers blind for about 50 yrs. He can take a loss now that he's 112 yrs old.Comment

Based on "The WBC's Claim" (as it also relates to Canelo who is technically still the WBC Franchise Middleweight Champion") If and whenever the the "Franchise" Champion is to defend the title it would be regarded as a legitimate title defense (aka this fight would be an Undisputed Lightweight title fight). Haney essentially is a glorified Interim Champion without "Interim" being tagged to his title.
What I will say is if the Lopez fight doesn't happen they should go ahead with the Haney fight if Haney isn't asking for quadruple the money he'd made up till now (which wouldn't surprise me).Comment
