Mmmm. Damned with faint praise indeed. Undoubtedly the women's sport is still in its infancy, only starting to achieve recognition within the last 15 years or so. However skills can be improved, talent pools deepened. With the support of fans that will hopefully come.. What these women do display however is every bit the determination the will and the courage shown by their male counterparts - more so in some ways since in many cases they've had to struggle against stigma and entrenched attitudes to get where they have.

Way I see it you take it as is, treat it as a separate sport in its own right, the way you'd maybe treat the ammys as a separate sport, but appreciate the battle of wills that takes place in the ring no less for the fact that it's usually taking place at a lower skill level.... Did you watch Egg n Cheese go at it last weekend? Were you dismissive cos you didn't see Sweet Pea and Floyd in there? Nah, what I saw was two fighters leaving everything they had in the ring, and women can do that just as well as men can.
The infancy of the women's ranks is why I say it's not Braekhus' fault. In 15 to 25 years when the talent pool is much deeper with women sharpening their tools against equal opposition in sparring and competitive bouts, things will be looking different.

I enjoy watching some women's boxing but only top level, anything below that is like watching club level amateurs, and at times, championship fights look that way too. I don't need to see Mayweather in the ring every time I watch a boxing match, but like the Egg and Cheese scrap, they have to be able to at least move like a professional and throw punches correctly, whether they land or not, which, let's be honest, A LOT of women can't. I simply can't enjoy something for what it is when what it is is shyt.

Women's boxing can be enjoyable, but, just don't shít on my head and tell me it's raining chocolate is all I'm saying.

Fair enough, we're not too far from the same page, won't pretend that I think all women's fights are great watching even if some of em are just as entertaining as men's fights, but it's more looking to the future. I believe its important we give the women's sport our support and help it to grow. Anyways I guess there's few enough dudes appreciate the women's sport at all so far as I'm concerned you're on the right side of the street.
