Ha! So THAT'S what happened? Lopez and Lomachenko literally got their offers last week. Lopez NEVER said he stopped being in negotiations. Arum is trying to play hard ball and it may work, but that's all this is. So if he ends up getting more than 1.2M, then what? And the one making another offer would be Arum, not Lopez's side. Clearly they have a number in their mind and it is Arum telling them he can't give them that much at this time. LIS earlier, they can meet in the middle of their target and get this done. I've been hopeful of this match up still taking place regardless of the comments the last few days.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a guaranteed purse, not necessarily a cap. I assume he'll get a percentage of the revenue generated from commercials. That ESPN will have a target of projected commercial revenue, and anything over that will be portioned and partitioned out to the boxers. I'm guessing here, but I believe the purse is a guarantee and not a cap. There's always a lot of wiggle room in negotiations. Especially when people think outside the box.Comment

Yeah. Well, the way I look at it is that it takes two to Tango. Both camps sounded as if they weren't going to budge. And given the past few months with Ryan Garcia, Saunders, etc. We've seen fights go down the tubes because no one was willing to budge. And it looked that this one was going to go the same way. I mean, hats off to the kid if he gets more money, but per reports, he had been asking for about as much as Lomachenko is getting. We'll see. In the past, Lomachenko has offered his opposition part of his pure, if they beat him. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.
Yeah, I completely agree. 200k to 500k is a lot of money, so if he gets that much more, I am assuming he'll be good and take the fight. I think that is pretty darn good purse size. It'll be either three times as much or more than three times as much as he's made in the past. He should take that.

Arum said that the 1.2 was the final “take it or leave it offer, so I don’t know why they would even still be negotiations. Time will tell who caved.Comment

Come on Bob, make the fanboys happy.
Give Theo what he wants.
Nobody cares about you losing money.
Just imagine if this is Golovkin asking for increase in pay.
They'll argue the exact opposite. Whatever fits their agenda doe.Comment

GGG is making 15M against the likes of Rolls. Poor Teo just want more than 1.2M to fight against arguably the best P4P fighter in the world in a undisputed match up which he will do his part in bringing in viewers.Comment

Reminds me of Nicholas Walters, who at least beat a guy with a name like Donaire. Arum didn't budge, and Walters was kept on the shelf for a long time, if I remember correctly, and eventually accepted Arum's offer which was a lot smaller than the original one. He's now languishing in oblivion.Comment
